Volkswagen Touareg V8, 04

Good Points
Does everything so well, the 4.2 V8 is amazing the limited differentilas and locking diff work extremely well. Even better now i have built a lift kit for it.
Has all the fit out you could imagine.

Bad Points
Lack of flex, being indepdent front and rear, great for the road not so good for the trail. Hardly any aftermarket bits availible (just means i get to build and engineer more myself)

What mods have you done?
I have engineered and built a 2" lift kit , full alluminium bash plate , fitted some MT's 275/65x18 aka 32.5" , addition driving lights , roof mounted full size spare and mount for TRED's also a mount for LED bar light.

What mods are on the list to do?
Next on the list is a snorkel, it will be a dual snorkel as the V8 has two air intakes, and some more fit out for camping .

Why did you buy this vehicle?
I bought it for my wife as a city car for my 2 girls, always loved the car just fell deeper in love with it once it was mine. Love the V8 , sat nav , heated memory seats , leather , all time 50/50 4wd , the list goes on and on

How often do you go offroad?
once a month ,

What will your next vehicle be?
Another Touareg for the wife

Great set up. The home built mods definately make the VW mor enjoyable and unique.

I do think your first few pics are a bit bias:D:D

I wasn't thinking like that at all , but maybe they come across like that. The first shot was airing out after some water/ mud holes , and the bogged shot was just me helping out my brother. I have helped my bro fit up his hilux with the XROX bar and fitted his snorkel.
It's a awesome car. And the two cars work well together , very well matched.
My brother is looking to do a 2" lift , which will give him that bit of extra clearance. He has it over me with the snorkel. But that's on my list.

The best bit is getting out with my brother and spending time together. We both have kids and its great to get away a just let loose.

I was only stirring about the pics mate. You know the good old Toyota/Nissan thing. LOL.
Does the VW have rated recovery point or have you had to engineer some and reinforce the car?

You know they named your car after a terrorist group?

Well, orginally it was a african tribe - but that tribe is now running guns

Not sure that name will be around much longer :D

It's all good. Yer touchy subject that.
The fronts got two thread in recovery points and two on the rear , I use a trailer hitch recovery point for the rear as its a bit safer and centered to the car.

Got much bush pinstriping now? :D

Whats the go with your wiper blades? noisiest Ive ever heard :D perhaps the blades are worn and the metals hitting the glass? - I just bought some blades for mine for <$10 at BigW (7 blade wipers dunno if it makes a difference but same price as the single blade ones - Perhaps check yours incase else it will scratch the glass eventually if they are worn out)

I found this video - and thought of this thread (thought you might like it)
