X-Trail Genuine Towbar

Gday all,

Just got a Nissan X-Trail 09 Ti and need to put a tow bar on it. I am going to buy one from Nissan so it will be Genuine. Does anybody know what it is like to Wire up the Plug? Is it Plug N Play? The Kit comes with a wire harness and the guy from nissan just says its easy, but hasnt actually done it himeself

Wiring for a genuine Nissan trailer harness is mostly plun-n-play. The most you have to do is to put wires into the trailer plug (screw in) and pull the trims inwards in the rear of the car to access the tail light wiring harness, where all you do is disconnect a connector and plug the trailer harness in to each end of the car harness.
The instructions also tell you what wires go where in the trailer plug.
You will also have to cut a small section out of the rear bumper so it can go over the tow-bar.
(fitted heaps at work). Just take your time and follow the instructions.

Im just up in Newman for work for a few weeks and then in PNG for 3 weeks, then I finally get two weeks off work, so ill be busy with that. A change from the decking im putting up! haha

Just another totally unrelated quickie, does the Nudge bar from a T30 fit a T31?

I wouldnt assume too much, could get expensive. Im not sure they are the same as i have seen a T30 with its towbar hanging by 2 very unhappy bolts as the rest of the towbar was ripped out (with the chassis rail attached) just from towing a caravan (wasnt overly large).
There may be some differences so i would only order one to suit your model.

I have an X-Trail nudge bar for sale if you are after one (has a small scratch) but will have to double check its for a T31 tho.

Deathsbreeze, I should have typed that a little clearer. I ment to say that I assume the T30 & T31 towbar is different, the same as the nudge bar.

I rang a wrecker today and he said a T31 Nudge bar is $550, tow bar is $300 (with harness ect). I would still be keen to see your nudgie!

Everything is different between the T30 and the T31. Towbar options are either genuine (Nissan) or Hayman Reese. I had a T30 and now I have a T31. I got my HR installed for $550 - 2t capacity - on both. Same price but different bar.

The nudge bars are more complicated again. There is a difference between T31's depending on the series. I'm pretty sure Series I and II are the same but it all changed for Series III onwards. I paid $749 for my ECB nudge bar and installed myself.

Check that the nudge bar is suitable for your car. The tow bar install should be fairly straightforward as long as you don't mind removing the rear bumper and cutting it.

The nudge bar i have is for a T31 Diesel 06/2008- 07/2010.
part number is F2160JG200AU.
Its yours for $300 plus freight.
Will drag it out later and take a pic. Will also make sure all parts are with it.

Hi Toddyh, I'm looking for a towbar addition to my T31 Diesel and was wondering where was it that you got yours done for $550?
