Wiper Blades

Hi guys.
I have just replaced the wiper blade inserts on the truck for the 5th time in 2yrs.

Can anyone recommend a good make that will last for a decent amount of time.
I have been using supercheap auto`s more expensive ones.

The last time I went through blades like this I was living in Marrickville under the flight path.
It seem that burnt jet fuel and blade don`t mix.

Cheers. Ian.

Wow, I have changed mine once from the factory ones in neary 7 years with supercheap auto ones.
No idea on brand.

I use washer detergent in the reservoir & clean my window everytime I get in the car.

Could be why they have lasted longer??

Now that I think about it with other cars I've had I have replaced them much more frequently as they went hard, but I wasn't using washer detergent then.

The detergent could condition the rubber maybe??

Just a thought.

You can rejuvenate the rubber by cleaning the blades with turps. It will soften hardened rubber so, if they're not actually damaged it's worth a try.

I've bought the last couple of sets on our cars from the net. The ones on the VE Commodore are at least 6 years old now I'm not sure of the brand. I also bought a set for my wife's Hyundai from there as well again no name but the plastic on one end gave way after only a couple of weeks. Have since bought a set of Bosch to replace them with.
I might seem like a tight arse but when you go to buy wiper rubbers and they are asking around $80 for a pair I shop around. I bought the pair of Bosch blades for $56 delivered compared to $80 for the same thing from Supercheap.

Try genuine Toyota ones, they seem to last ok
I was about to say the same thing. I have tried super expensive blades they work ok for a couple of years.

Rarely, Toyota offers top quality genuine parts for less than aftermarket. Wiper blades are one such product. They last so much longer without any streaking or squeaking.

Clean your windscreen with WD40..The water beads and it stops all the chatter.. It doesn't last for ever but just a simple job.

I just give mine a good wipe down with car wash when washing the car, keeps all the road grim off the blades and makes them last twice as long.
I would guess 2-3 years out of each set, as soon as they start leaving streaks they get replaced

Saw this one a while ago on FB but I dont trust buying things off FB after getting bitten once.

Still they are available on Ebay & could give your wipers a 2nd life depending on the issue?

Not sure about the cost of OEM Toyota wipers, probably like any other OEM brand..................way over priced!!

Rubbing the cut side of a raw potato over the glass does the same thing, it fills the pores in the glass apparently and make the surface smooth

Can my wife use the raw potato on her face instead of that expensive foundation?
most likely..ensure its a desere potato or equivelent red/purple type to avoid irritation and also to maintain correct starch levels on windscreen

I am not game to suggest it
My concern is that the potato will end up in a place that will effect my bowel movements
