Thanks guys, I don't have a need for a bull bar (rarely travel in the country at night) but a winch would be very handy.

I can see two problems that may be of concern Lex. 1 is the lower it's mounted the more chance of damaging it on rocks ect, the second is the fact that the lower u mount it the deeper in the water or mud it will be. I mounted my winch in a cradle directly behind where it usually is supposed to sit and then bolted it to the main chassis, I then cut the appropriate slots in the bar and mounted the fairlead ect. Here are some pics I hope they help.

Very nice job mate. How about some pictures of it from a bit further away. I am wanting to do this also and it will be my first engineering project so to speak. So i wouldnt mind pinching some of your ideas
