Wilcania

We are heading out to the corner country in September and were thinking of staying at Wilcania but have been told by a few people who went through many years ago that it isn't a good place to stay.
Has anyone been there lately and how did you find it.

Go an hour further on to Whitecliffs and stay there.

Was talking to someone just the other day and they said drive straight thru unless you need fuel.

Wilcannia has social problems. There is a motel. We often refuel there and have never come across problems but the 'locals' can get out of hand sometimes especially around Pension Day. This in turn may scare city prople out of their wits. As suggested go and camp or motel it at White Cliffs.

I have stopped for a beer in Wilcania with a mate, we left them half full. As above head for White cliffs and buy some overpriced opals or visit Ernie in the underground motel

Yeah might stop at Cobar for the night and go to White cliffs the next day.
