Who to vote for?

So Labor consistently wins office in ACT seven times in a row
Do you think there is any correlation to it being a high public servant population?
As an ACT resident I think it is due to a relatively young population, most come here for Uni and are indoctrinated to the socialist way of thinking the ones who don't get effectively indoctrinated eventually leave and the ones who do stay which leads into voting for the Green Labor Coalition and the general high cost, low service 'govern me harder' way of life here.

Interesting, didn’t think about the high Uni numbers. My brother did a 12 month contract with a government department in Canberra and was amazed at the whole different work ethic/ ethos compared to elsewhere

If you're referring to Lidia, then reckon she's burnt her bridges as far as any support she got during the Referendum goes. By the way, Charles is OUR King, not 'the visiting King of another country'. Ironically, Lidia should've realised that - you know, being an effing Senator in our Parliament.

Consequently, she should be expelled from Parliament. She's a real 'piece of work'.

A follow up on that event

She is entitled to her view but the hypocrisy of being in parliament, getting a quarter of a million annual salary and then denouncing the very system she is supposed to be representing
I would think there is cause for her to be removed from her seat

Not at all. She has a right, actually she has duty to say it. I'm not seeing the hhypocrisy.

I'm firmly in the republic camp. The monarchy does nothing for me. Charlie was involved in the sacking of an elected government here.

Regardless, countries all over the world have requested stolen remains and artefacts be returned. These days, it would just be common sense/courtesy to return them. They should've been returned already.

One woman bleating about " stolen land" and "genocide" and "destroyed our land" etc etc. Gets all this publicity because its close to home.
Same thing and worse right now happening to 4 million inhabitants of another land barely gets a mention

Don’t know what others think but surely there are much more important things we should be scrutinising our politicians for than a few flight upgrades and a free Christmas leg ham?

I flew for a living in another lifetime - as a federal gov’t public servant. Yes, I was a qantas club gold member. Nobody who flies a lot wants to. It’s a shit way to live. Good on them if they get upgrades.
I’ve said it before, my wife is a director at state level. They all pass the hat around for a few sangas and a coffee when overseas groups are visiting (to spend billions on our remote sensing satellite tech) because there is no budget for public servants - that is absurd.
You want to attract smart people for these jobs - give them the same as they would expect in private enterprise as a bare minimum and we might do better than union stooges in high places.

I fly once or twice a year now and I hate it every time. If i was flying daily I would want a seat up the front to stay away from the mouth breathers weighing the back end down
