Who to vote for?

I'm a firm believer that you need to give a big shock to whoever has been in power for more than about 6 years, they start to get stale and game the system. That means voting for a minor party that will direct the preferences the right way, or vote for the opposition, especially in your own electorate to make it more marginal.

I lean to the right economically, and to the left for the environment, and the LNP has failed Australia IMHO on this issue.

Ideally I'd vote for a party that was like the greens but without the loony policies that come with them, like compulsory drug dealing for everyone, injection rooms next to schools and over the top economic policies. And try to decipher their antivax stance. You'll need an enigma machine it is so deliberately vague.

Where is a right leaning party that has responsible environmental policies. The National party should be front and center here but are fighting the wrong cause.

mmm religion and politics, 2 things that can get very heated, this thread will be watched closely and the whole thread removed if it turns nasty.
@boobook this is another topic we seem to see exactly eye to eye on most of the time.
I have no clue on who to vote for in the upcoming elections, to me there seems to be very small amounts from each party to vote for but not one party has there act together well enough with the right leader to get my vote.
At least a sausage in bread will be on offer

You do realise that you direct the preferences? They might hand you a how to vote card as you walk towards the door, but its up to the individual who they number 1 to X?

The flowing of preferences that the election coverage loves to talk about isn't because one neuron wasn't going to win, so handed their votes off to LNP, its because their voters are more likely to put Labour and the Greens last, no matter what. The counting room people can see they won't get the numbers, so take that box of ballot papers and start allocating them to who they had down as No. 2.

The blatant corruption and lies when confronted with it (The classic Shaggy 'Wasn't Me' defence) means they won't be getting my vote.

Agreed on who to vote for, though if the whole thread is deleted, make sure the corona and Trump ones are treated the same. anyway, if the 4x4 Earth clock is working properly, it will be so off topic as to be unrecognisable by the end of page 2. Just like the corona one is about the Ukraine war now. Lol.

Yeah, I do realise that, and the rare times I vote for a minority party, I direct my own preferences. But most people that vote for that party, just follow the prefences, your vote can get the party higher on the list for distribution, and while your vote goes where you want, all the others get distributed to the preffered parties. Ie you can give a leg up to the parties you would never vote for.

Palmer party? I haven’t looked at their policies because I wouldn’t vote for him. Same goes for the lot of them at the moment. This is without doubt the most uninspiring election lineup I have ever had the misfortune of looking at.

It is like choosing which turd you prefer to pick up, the one with glitter on it or the one with hundreds and thousands

It could be worse though we could have the American candidates

The two major parties are not that different with their policies these days compared to the boss V the worker of old.
they now both choose policy that gets votes.
Whilst there is plenty not to like about Scomo I still think he is a stronger leader than DJ Albo and history has shown the libs to be better financial managers which is critical in our current environment
I still can’t believe Labor has Albo as their frontman and would of romped in if they put anyone with ovaries up front.

Shooters, Fishers & Farmers party.
Even though they may not have the diversity in policy as the others but at least they have my interests at the forefront & support our country cousins who actually feed & cloth this nation.

Its more about winning a few seats so we can have a voice other than the majors & the greens imo.

Just a heads up that this type of topic and thread can turn nasty and if it does it will be shut down, we don't need more divisive material IMO
If other mods disagree it will be discussed. Just trying to be as open as possible because as most will be well aware topics such as politics are not allowed on many forums and would be removed immediately with a warning given to the poster, I on the other hand like free speech and freedom of thought , expression and opinion. The exact opposite of "controlling implications"
If you don't care about who is running the country and what they will do when/if they gain a seat that is entirely up to you

I thought they were a state based party. I really wanted to vote for them at the last state election, and honestly I've never see such a disorganised group. I pledged help and they got back to me after the election saying they had internal split issues. Their policies on the website were all nsw despite saying Victoria.

I can't see any mention of the federal election on their website, only 2 to 3 year old policies and articles about NSW state issues.

They can't run a website, not sure how they'd go in parliament.

If I cant vote for the SFFP federally then I will just walk in, get my name crossed off, fold up the ballot papers without putting a mark on them & put them in the box & walk out.

There is no one else out there I want to give my vote to as they are all just self obsessed greed mongers looking to line their own pockets with our money!

Sure they are great at website policies, but how can anyone vote for them in the federal election? It's the same as last time.

On paper they are a good fit but it's just a website as far as I can see.

Can you point me to anywhere that says how to vote for the election?

Under the how to vote tab it tells me how to vote in the NSW by-election in Bega on Feb12. Surely they know there is a federal election on that has been predicted for 12 or more months. Not even a mention of the federal election on Facebook. Just happy Easter and the week in NSW parliament.

I think it's just a few like minded gun owners with a single NSW state based policy, who don't know how to get their shit together unfortunately. Lots of promise, no capability. Nothing wrong with gun owners, but we have bigger issues than brumby shootings in NSW that I'm interested in.

As to fishing, a passion of mine. Dan Andrews is doing an amazing job through the VFA with 10Million stocked fish a year,, new and refurbished boat ramps, and stopping of commercial netting in coastal waters. I have no respect for the guy otherwise but he has done more for recreational fishing than the past 10 governments combined.where is the party on hunting and fishing in Vic? No where despite making big claims on their website.
