What tent do you use?

I contacted them and there is no side pole kit available, but maybe a side pole kit from another brand might fit. They do a side pole kit for the larger size, but that is too big for my requirements.

It's funny that some people swear by the centre pole, others dislike it a lot.

I have put my name down for one when they come back in stock. I recon it is too good to pass up at that price. Hopefully it lives up to it's makers claims.

Fingers crossed.

Phil, check the sizes etc and have a look at the oztrail, dune or similar tents and their sizes, it may be one of there side pole kits may fit. the kits are $58-75 depending on brand / supplier.

I got my DUNE Kimberly 9+ tourer with side pole kit for $300 from Anaconda middle of last year, normal RRP was around the $700 mark

Wow. That tent looks great for $300. P.V.C. floors are usually only found on the top of the range centre pole's.;):)

good tent, takes a bit to waterproof them, need to do mine a few more times then I shouldn't need to run a sealant on the seams.

Soaked the snot out of it when I first got it for several days, took it out 1st time and only a small amount leaked through the base seam.

Good thing about this tent is the centre AND side pole kits come standard, no need to purchase a seperate set.

pays to make up a "floor saver" ground mant as well, made mine out of shade cloth

They look like a nice tent too, but the price is way higher than the Oz WIld. You got a bargain for sure, and I will check out the side pole kits when I get mine.
They said April will be the next lot of stock, so I have a bit of a wait. The weather will be better by then, a lot cooler. :)

Had not thought about that, maybe I should buy a brown tent for the mud and keep my green tent for the grass area.:)

I'de have to consult my Chinese astrologer to see if I should use the Green or Brown Tent - I had a lot of trouble years ago when we had our "Purple Peril" green & meauve tent.

BTW I solved the problem by buying a Green AND Brown tent. :D

We are heading to the Outback in June this year and need to find a suitable Touring Tent that can fit a family of 5 with still some room leftover and it's got to be relatively quick to erect.

This is the one I'm thinking about (OutDoor Connections "Tanbar Touring Tent":

Has anyone have or had experience with this tent?

Had a look at these last weekend. They look like good value.
Not much more expensive than a couple of peaked side panels and a fly sheet for an Oztent and made out of,what appears to be decent canvas, unlike the Oztent.

How to carry an oz tent

I have an Oz tent also and I love it. I am short so lifting it onto the roof of the 4WD is an issue. I would love to know if anyone has contemplated buying a Thule Hullavator to take the hard work out of it. I know they are meant for kayaks but if someone has one as well as an Oz Tent can they try it out and see if it works and post a reply. Not a cheap option but over the years would pay for itself I reckon.

I have the DUNE version of this tent except mine doesn't have the extra vents at the bottom, awesome tent and very quick to set up

My tent saga continues due to family increasing by 1! Gone is the rooftop tent whilst I search for a family tent... Today I arrive home with a $200 Coleman lakeside 4 family tent... #fail!
Does not like the front vestibule as it can let bugs in whilst the toddler is eating...
Now back to the shop for the $300 blackwolf just because it has zips around the vestibule.

Anyone else have these headaches due to the increase in family size and the need for a family tent??

Not yet. I bought the Blackwolf Turbo 300 plus for that reason. Ought to be big enough for the wife and kids. Who knows I might even be able to sleep in it once in a while.

Going today to look at the Tanbar setup and will probably end up getting one as well.... Need a good touring tent that is quick to erect and fits a family of 5 and this type hopefully seems to be the most suitable for when we head out to Lake Eyre in June/July
