What do you pack for camping?

My lap top crashed recently & I lost all my files. I was recreating my camping list & it got me wondering what everyone else takes with them. I copied & pasted my list, which is fairly extensive (I think). I don't always take it all, but there's nothing worse than arriving or getting half way there & finding that you've forgotten something so I have a list.

I did go a little into detail when it comes to my camp diet & like I said, I don't take it all at once. For eg, I can't pull my bike, ski, camper etc at once & I've either gotta take 2 cars or get someone to come who can tow the ski for me. I take it when I go coastal. When I go inland into the forest, I take the bike. When I ride, I get hungry, & THIRSTY. I don't like running out of stuff to do. I pack spares of a few things for good reason.........anyone who's been caught short before will know. I think you'll find everything on that list is likely to be used.

I often go with just the bikes, boys, brews, tinned food & swag. But you can only survive 2 or 3 days. With all that other stuff I can last forever with enough food & $$ & if I was still single & minus kids, I'd be very tempted to do so.

I still take the swag even with the camper as it gets very cold at 3am where I go but not when you share a double swag with the Mrs, who seems to thrive off my body heat. The sink with water tank, pump & tap makes for quick dishes duties (a must for all blokes). I don't do the dishes at home so it's my job when we camp.

And there's nothin like floating on your back in a tube on the river mid afternoon with beverage of choice in hand, listening to the birds & water..........one can easily fall asleep & wake up 1km downstream & very sunburnt. The kids love the rubber dinghi & when they're happy & leaving mum alone, all is peaceful. The swing rope is for all to use, & the spud gun & aerosol cans are for us big kids to have careful fun with in a safe environment.

I need the recovery gear as I like to go where most can't get to & there's usually someone who comes along who isn't quite prepared for such terrain.

Most of the cooking gear lives in the camper trailer as does the chairs, table, gas bottle & most of the other stuff. It's packed strategically to maximise room, so it really doesn't seem like you take so much until you break it down.

"TOILET SEAT & PAPER (1/2 ROLL PER PERSON PER DAY)"

Gee Wizz half a roll per person per day how do you find time to do anything else except be on the dunnie all day long,, one roll will last the 4 of us a week !!:D

We are currently getting our stuff together and are constantly adding to it as we find we need things, or dont but we are trying to keep everything in storage boxes so they are always there ready to go !!!

 Geez Sharky, would you like some fries with that!!! :D:D

We are the same. Take it all plus the sink, only if the whole family is coming though. Otherwise, like everyone else, swag, fridge, grog, fishing gear, food and maybe, just maybe a rifle depending on where i go. I used to have a bow but that was a long time ago and the boss wont let me get another one yet!! Oh and my gps!!

Hehehe, bike & ski are both racers & don't have keys. You can't really forget car keys can you? I find I tend to stay home if I do..............................

Not all that stuff is actually on my list. I just listed it here for illustration purposes. No point seein if others pack the same sorta stuff if I don't mention it eh?

Nisnav, a lot of my stuff is in ready containers too. But this was a list I've had for yrs & I keep to remind me to check those boxes before I go. Stuff breaks sometimes & gets forgotten about so the list reminds me about it.

Knot_guilty, I'm gonna lose it laughing while typing this & I hope it doesn't make you sick but a few yrs ago we got a BAD case of gastro that hit us REAL bloody fast. It was the worst I've ever had to this day. You were lucky to get your pants down let alone find a secluded spot. To cut the gory (but hilarious) details out, we had a good supply of poo tickets but ran out quickly. With the nearest town over 1hr away, & by that time also sporting baboon lookin behinds, we had to wash our posterias in the river & therefore take the longer river route into town. Ever since then, I allow for that amount. Besides, any parent with toddlers will understand too. That's kinda where the extra jocks come in too, other than if you go swimming you may have a pair or 2 hangin out to dry.
