Just asked the local bloke definitely Legal in SA as long as they dont pose a risk to pedestrians with pointy bits sticking out, and dont protrude past the mirrors. Issue will be firmly secured. Definition of firmly secured would be up to the degree, of bad day the cop was having who pulled me over. So its definitely a possible

Just starting the process for setting up a new Amarok V6. 1st step was Nitto Ridge Grappler tyres. 2nd step is a PWR intercooler. Next will be the tune.

Interesting, how restrictive is the factory intercooler?
It has a decent surface area but its thinner than the PWR. Main point of difference is strength. The factory cooler is lightweight and plastic tanks. The factory pipework is about 2 1/2inch so large enough and the factory exhaust is also a nice diameter. Just picked it up from the tune and its making 250hp (185kw) at the wheels with larger diameter tyres. Gained around 50hp.

That's a big number about the same as a 255 kilowatt HSV would make on much smaller rubber... is this the going claim for these cars when they're tuned ?

I haven't bothered checking too deep into the numbers as different dynos can display different results. The main thing for me is there is plenty of power from low down and its also quietened the CRD injector noise when cruising. They also bump up the allowed engine torque in reverse which is a real issue with the factory setup. The shop owner has the same car as mine and made 280hp with standard tyres so I guess its a typical result. The aftermarket intercooler will come into its own on our long trips towing a camper, I don't think it would affect the dyno results unless the factory intercooler was restrictive.

After only having the gear for around 12 months I finally got my act together and installed my front camera on the cruiser
20191115_113000.jpg

Did most of the work on Sunday and then finished off wiring the power and earth today after a trip to Autopro to get some more ring terminals

Mainly wanted the front camera for eyes right at the front of the vehicle for technical tracks and when cresting big hills blindly so to speak. Will come in handy for parking at times too I reckon

Transfer case shift motor failed on my disco on Thursday, new motor arrived Friday and only had time to fit it this afternoon. The shift motor has a plastic gear that wore out and got to the point where it couldn't support the load to activate the Centre diff clutch or range switching

When i had the roof reskinned and rack re-fitted we left the original mounting hole open, meant i had a ready made hole to drop cable through and wired up a 40" lightbar across the rack... will try it out this weekend when we head out.
