Did a little upgrade over the weekend.
Need a set of slim draws to lock away the loos gear now.

Busy week, Tanami snorkel fitted, heavy duty Kings springs fitted to the front to cope with the steel bull bar and T Max winch, raised the ute by 60mm, old springs were no doubt down a bit. I also travelled 3600kms and the new springs haven't sagged at all. Converted the ute from a 3 seater to a 2 by swapping out the uncomfortable half bench seat with a bucket seat and I now have room in between the buckets for my $30 Engel cooler which works a treat. I also bought some "O" ring rubber and sealed up the lid of the air box. Ordering some wet suit seat covers on Monday and that's about it for the ute. 20500 kms on it now in 3 months and I didn't work for 6 weeks over Christmas and New Year.

Well my ol cruiser has had a bit done in the last month, mostly as a result of our recent cape trip.
New ARB deluxe bar and winch cradle
20190101_082148.jpg

Getting the old cradle off was a mission due to the crush tube bolts the go vertically thru the chassis.

New bar fits nicely and looks alright too.
Had dents in bonnet removed and resprayed , both front guards repaired from being pushed up by the bullbar and resprayed. Passenger side had nasty scuff marks removed and a nice fist size dent beside fuel filler hatch , all repeated and polished, wish they could have done drivers side to match but insurance wouldn't come to that.

New rear rotors fitted and pads all round. Gbox, tcase and diff oils done ( I do engine oil myself ), tcase output shaft seal replaced,, all uni's replaced, front bearings repacked and viscous fan hub replaced.

Still has slight power steering rack , and pump leak but will be ok for a while yet as only a minor wrap.

So the ol girl should be sweet for a while now and ready for a few more trips.

Well, it’s not 4wd related. It’s camper trailer related.

Since acquiring my new camper trailer. The only place for it is behind my fence.

This meant I had to pull the fence apart and then reassemble before a trip. Repeat when returning home. Repeat if you want to work on it.

So, I got pissed off. I made the fence into a gate. A bonus, it looks like a fence and not a gate

Starting the final prep for the Simpson so wired in a 12v pump that runs from the jerry cans (3x22l) and fitted up a ram mount for the tablet to run maps and gps.

Looks great. I also use the same RAM mount for my tablet, but found that it shakes like mad on corrugated roads. So I secured it with an additional small bracket against the console. That eliminated most of the wobbles.

Yes I have already thought of that and an going to put a brace from the dash to the top of the mount so it has second support.

Solved the wobble issue... Might have to think of a more suitable version but this works for now... Will be no one in the passenger seat obviously. DSC_0027.JPG

Put in a switch for the handbrake signal to the stereo so that I can have YouTube videos playing for the kids whilst driving if we want

Had my rear springs reset and the main load spring reshaped so the main spring pack contacts the load spring earlier. Also had an extra leaf added to the main pack and the ride height raised 50 mm. the rear springs had sagged after 4 months and 23,000 kms. Should carry a tonne a bit better now.

It never ends, just finished setting up my ute and it was attacked by a demented kangaroo at about 2.00AM this morning. It was standing on the road and I slowed and it hopped off the road out of the way and as I passed it spun around and lunged at the ute. A few ripples in the passenger door and a small dent in the rear wall behind the door and a bit of fur wedged between the mudflap and mudguard. I will check with a panel shop on Monday, no paint damage so if it can be fixed for a couple of hundred I will have it fixed otherwise it will remain. Probably happen again in the future. The roo started at the corner of the bull bar and finished at the back wheel. A bit of fur as a memento.

Thanks to a post on the Ih8mud forum, I modified my 80 series so that the power windows always are connected to the battery so I can put them up or down without needing to have the key switched to "ACC". And tomorrow its another job to make the drivers window go all the way up with a single press of the window switch.

Today I installed a few small things to my 4WD....

1. I added a home made insect mesh to the front of my grill.
2. Added a fire extingisher
3. Extended my front and rear diff breathers

A happy camper I am.... an easy and relaxing day........ :p:p:p:p:p
That’s awesome mate.

Well done.

But I did notice 1 mistake. Your fire extinguisher is toooooooooo small for a Jeep owner. o_O:rolleyes::oops:
