I think they got that idea from the government when they made small businesses collect GST for them for free ;)

The thing that pisses me off the most about supermarkets is they stopped providing carry bags under the guise of saving the environment but look at how they package everything in a shop. o_O
They made a lot of $$$ dropping shopping bags and the public accepted it
So true,

It is laughable years ago they stopped using paper to save the trees and went to plastic, here in SA they now sell paper bags as an option - go figure

See an Indian citizen, so possibly just spending time here, driving a car hit and killed a guy walking home, was stated the guy was walking on the wrong side of the road, whatever that means, then sped off doing over 100kms an hour. When caught he lied claiming a tree branch fell on the car damaging it, he wasn't driving the car and other lies and stories like claiming insurance on the car etc. The judge took into consideration his remorse and he might be deported when released from prison and sentanced him to.............
You ready for this?
12 months jail.
Any wonder the family of the deceased were in tears at hearing that.
And that judge keeps his job?
This should be, not maybe should have been, posted in Jokes.
We are supposed to believe the court system is there for fair justice.

Sad state of affairs. I've been saying for years that if you really want to kill somebody then run them over in your car. The penalty (if any) for using a car as a lethal weapon seems to be significantly less than if you use other lethal devices. :(

If you look into it he wasn’t charged with any fault related to the accident or the death of the pedestrian as he was not at fault, he was charged for how he reacted to the accident, very different to actually being responsible for the accident

14 yo, out on bail, known gang member, leader of a group that has been terrorising school students, attacked one, pulled him into a car, robbed, thrown out the car, run over and has spent the last 3 or 4 days in an induced coma with head injuries, has been charged with 30 odd charges over this, no family support in court, and he will apply for bail again. Yet someone on the street answered the question about it, why are we failing him. Nothing for the injured kid or his family. You want to be a criminal you should be prepared to suffer the consequences and the ones they are getting are non existant. It now pays to be one, there's nothing to be scared of if your caught.

Another one, only 200 days for a woman that spent $10 million of money wrongly deposited into her account.
Was caught trying to flee the country. Most of the money has been recovered after it was spent, but should not matter. She stole $10 million. 10 million reasons to suffer a decent penalty in prision

We are such a soft society today. Any wonder you don't want to walk the streets any more, day or night.

Coming on here and seeing 5 out of 7 new posts are on conspiracy/political threads. And this is just about every day. What ever happened to this forum being about wheeling and the outdoors?

Well CTL, I used to think the same thing and posted something similar a couple of times. I was attacked by one or two who thought I was trying to restrict freedom of speech

I gave up. Anyway, so many threads about 4wding and camping turned into political sprays about Dan Andrews, or Trump, or vaccines and conspiracies, I now think it's better to fence off the discussions to preserve what little 4wding discussions there still are.

Unlike other forums, there seems to be little will to focus on 4wding or camping here. You rarely see other 4wd forums being used as anti-vax or conspiracy platforms like this one. And their active membership survived more than 4x4Earth cause they weren't fighting over irrelevant issues.

4x4Earth is now a semi political forum. It is what it is.

@CTL it is a fair observation but how many people contribute to getting some more “ relevant “ discussion started ?

I try to post up a bit on tyres, winches, travel truck related items and recent camping trips to try and stimulate some discussion but is often met with silence
And then there are thise who just come to get some advice to fix their problems and are gone again with no contribution

We all need to make an effort to contribute

Well CTL, it's a pretty simple answer and you don't need to be a rocket scientist to work it out. If you read the title that these things are under it states ""Off Topic Discussion". Now I don't know what you call "off topic" but I read those words and immediately think that's it's things not related to 4 wheel driving or camping. There are plenty of other sections on here and guess what. They all relate to that. To fix your problem I suggest you read the title, then don't go there and read anything within it. This also applies to any others that think a place for "OFF TOPIC" posts should only include post on what they think the site should post. Suggest you take it up with the site owners and see if they will/will not remove it. If you had made this statement for say "Tents" and everyone was posting about tyres, winches, blow up boats then I would agree with you, but "off topic" subjects, lost me there. As far as I can see every post in this title heading is relevant to that title heading.

What cheeses me off is that some members will complain about posts that are not 4WD or camping related and are posted in the specific "off topic discussion" section, where they should be, yet they shouldn't even be posted according to some.

Guess what. That complies to all things needed. It's in "off topic discussion". It's not about 4WD or camping. It's in and about "what cheeses me off!!!!". And some members will read it, some members won't. Some will comment, some won't, but it's there decision. Not their decision made by another member.

No issue with OT discussion, what annoys me most is that years ago when I first joined there were weekly trips, invitations to join trips, trip reports and huge annual gatherings. Now there is zip, no trips, no invitations to trips and no annual events
I have tried to get that side of the forum to get going several times with little to no interest

Look at Myswag. That forum clearly banned all the political anti vax, conspiracy crap and they still have meet-ups and trips.

But even for MySwag it appears, as with many groups, it is getting more difficult to get people together/committed to substantial travel and in person get-togethers.

And to be fair, we are in a bit of a mess with politics, the climate and life stress generally recently; so no wonder the off-topic threads are well patronised. Plus consider that most that post in the off-topic conversations also do thier bit in the rest of the forum.
Keep up the good work and engagement guys!

Albo, Albo cheeses me off
He promised a government with more openness and transparency
What we got was more of the same as always
Now he wants an inquiry into the handling of covid, great should have gone the whole hog but a little look into it is better than nothing but what is pathetic there is no looking at state government actions, no looking into lockdowns, no questions about border closures no looking at vaccine mandates
So he will protect his mates in state government and look at Federal governments handling of it, nothing to see here people
