Interesting looking rig.... has nice lines. Needs the V10 TDI that they got in their other fourbys.

Looked at this at the motor show in Melbourne yesterday - bit underwhelming . the model displayed was a bit pricy $59,000 and it has only a 2 litre donk !

There is one getting around in my area in the dark charcoal colour which looks really good.. has similar style to the colorado or Dmax... I have seen a white one with a front bar on it and looks pretty good. if i could afford one i would look into them. Would be keen to see one kitted out with barwork and some decent tyres !!!
Very interesting body lines.

I've driven one, they are pretty good, good power and torque, heaps of room inside, you can actually sit in the back and still have leg room, much, much bigger than any dualcab on the market at the moment (excluding the F250)

Also they give you a range of rim sizes to choose from 16", 17 and 18", all round I loved it, actually the daughter is thinking of buying one.

I also looked at one at the Motor show. Comparing stats and review, they've been rated as one of the better utes out there. The top of the range model apparently is the one to avoid as it does not have low range gearing. The 2Lt engine actually produces more torque that Toyotas 3Lt Diesel by quiet a bit which amazed me. Bear in mind too that the amarok is newly developed where's Toyota Hilux is starting to get a bit dated.

we have one at work, the boss bought it to try out, drives really nice much like a car and has plenty of power, they give you a range of 1000kms out of a tank of deisel and can fit a full pallet between the wheel arches ( no other dual cab or tub back ute can do this ) and they can carry a full tonne in the back to.

heaps of room inside very nice to drive, ill be asking the boss the trade my ssv work ute in on one of these very soon i think

Not true, they all have lowrange, also they have been around for a few years overseas, just here they are new, also there is a wagon available overseas.

This is the sneak peak at the new wagon back in 2008.

Sorry, i was meant to say that it's an option on the Amarok Ultimate to have permanent AWD instead of the part-time system, which does without low-range.

Yes they have been around for about 4 years in South America & Europe. Their engines are still quiet advanced for what they are. VW with their sister company Audi, are at the forfront of Diesel technology considering Audi is one of the oldest main diesel engine developers. They've always had a reputation for building small engines with maximum output.

i want 1 they look great 45000 for the middle range one. problem is i do like to go bush and a bull bar make me feel a little safer. even tho VW make a bull bar for them as soon as you put one on it loses its ancap rating... :( but i would still buy one

Calibrated from 4wd action, drove his amrok down from brissy for the yalwal clean up and i have to say it changed my mind about them. He gave it a red hot go down there!
A bonus is even though they havn't been in the australian market long, arb and maybe a few other mobs?? already had a selection of mods ready to go, seeing as they have been availible o/s for awhile
It would be a tough choice between the hilux and amrok now, if i was ever to go down the dual cab ute path in the future..
