Hello all,

I just put in a new UHF radio and it's been awhile since I have been of the airwaves (CB) and I'm astounded by the amount of morons out.

It seem that there soul purpose is to jump on and insult people or dribble racist comment.

I two kids and they want to have a go but with the amount of idiots on there, I thing I might give it a miss.

What are your throughs of this?

In total agreement with you, the main repeater station used in sydney is 7 and the amount of crap as you mentioned is astounding! hard ass truckies have better manners  i really feel for the people who run the repeaters as it costs them $$ to have the license and for there gear only to re-broardcast that kind of jibberish.
plus you get those low IQ twerps dropping carriers so no one else can use the channel.
It seems that no one uses 11 as a call channel anymore either- maybe that died with AM?

You have not heard anything yet Try CH 3 reaper when over dandy way...Yep a lot of crap on UHF thats why 27meg is good no tools and can speak all over Aus and the world and yes some truckies still use CH 8..The UHF is good in the country areas though let you kids talk when your in the country,Like if ever Moe or Morwell way try CH 2 or 4 they will have fun as long as they give respect then they will get it back...

Hi all. Another thing thats a pain in the rear is people who broadcast music over the radio.
Hate it...... especially when your trying to discuss what tracks and direction to start a day of fun 4-wheelin.

I agree it's really annoying, a couple of months ago I was on a club trip to Harvey about 100 km south of Perth & everytime we transmitted we got a smartarse reply telling us to f... off out of their territory. Felt like something out of the movie deliverance. Eventually we got out of range but it was hard not to respond to them in an appropriate way.

Cheers

Hi Miss "A" *****y. I haven't heard that one, but haven't used the radio since the last outing. I have heard one !diot who says "Hey Truck Driver", then yells a heap of abuse, and profanities towards truckies. A real tool... Some people really have way too much time on their hands.

The UHF seems to be getting very much like it was in the 70's and early 80's, when 27 mhz were full of D*ckHeads. There are a few around my area as well who like nothing more than getting a bite from someone, and they always catch a few, makes me laugh hearing all these people say what they are going to do when they catch up with d*ckheads when all they have to do is ignore them and they soon get sick of getting no relies.

I was out in the Eildon area recently showing some friends from work around. They were travelling in their own car so I lent them my handheld. As they had their 12 yo daughter with them, I made sure the radio was turned of before we started making our way back towards Melbourne. Just as well, as I left mine on and ended up turning it off as we came over Mt Slide as I just wasn't in the mood to listen to all the d!#kheads.
The other day, I noticed some people having an abusive conversation on channel 5. UHF was much better back in the mid 90s when all of the idiots we still down on 27Mhz AM CBs

Yeap it's a shame, we don't use UHF around Adelaide much anymore unless we have to for work.

To many _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ and _ _ _ _ _ _ around these days.

We have the same problem alot up north, mostly on Ch 40 though. I know people that just don't turn on the radio due to all the s**t, which is sad. Also music coming through, and so many people leaving transmit on overpowering everything.

I swear there are people pulling up to throw punches almost every night, it's absolutely stupid too.

Luckily most of the other channels are usually clear so we can find one to use amongst ourselves without too much worry.

Sounds like everyone has the same problem, in most states. I've found that the morons tend to lurk around the repeater stations, so they can annoy as many people as possible. If you've got a low-output system, and use some of the quieter stations, you should be fine. Even if you've got a high-output set, try and avoid the repeaters, and you should be fine. Ever since the licensing laws came off the UHF frequencies, it's been terrible... any old thickhead can go out and buy a powerful UHF set and piss everyone off. As for protocol and etiquette, that's pretty much gone too... nearly no-one uses the calling channel for it's purpose, and most people aren't even aware that there is an emergency channel... ah well.

I was so happy when I purchased my Jeep equiped with a UHF. Unfortunately all I hear on it is foul language and threats of violence.

Bit sad not as bad here in SA, but a few nights a week on certain channels you get a few regulars chatting about nothing. Get a mobile phone!!!!!! Leave the UHF for vehicles and ranger stations and the like!
