Tumut to Broken Cart Trail

The second part of our trip we left Tumut and did some exploring on the northern side of Brindabella Rd (Tumut end). We went to the top of a couple of the bigger hills in the area and saw some good views back towards the Brindabella mountains. The colorado got a flat with some blue metal in between the tread and we tried out one of those exhaust jacks... the bloody thing exploded, luckily the other jack held and no on was near the car at the time. Late in the afternoon we were lucky to find somewhere to camp along Broken Cart Trail. The surprise of the trip was finding a horse left on its own inside a bogged horse float. Saddle left on, no water, minimal food. Not good. Luckily we were able to find help the next morning and help the poor thing. Hope you enjoy the video, theres actually quite a bit of action and plenty of laughs as ususal.

Next time, put the jack under the axle and it will lift the wheel clear of the road, rather than finding the limits of the suspension travel.

I've never been a fan of exhaust jacks and I wouldn't have reached for one for a tyre change as that was very similar to my previous experience with one. We nearly put a troopie on its ear that day

Enjoyed the video guys, that's what it is all about ;)

Do you think that air jack came into contact with the exhaust which lead to the failure, of just over the weight??

Pretty disappointing to see a horse just left like that as well!

Yeah good point. First time we had ever used one, and probably the last. After that experience, they probably have a better place for use in recoveries or something like that. Def wont be using one like we did.

Probably weight and the way it was kind of folded over a bit would have contributed to the extreme stress on the seam.

Yeah the horse was pretty bad. Poor thing was shaking like a leaf when we got it out.
