Not sure handhelds cut it with 4 wheel clubs, also many have mentioned its a must for safe overtaking out in the back of beyond.
Seen some great setups, one which impressed me was an Ariel bracket was part of the bonnet mount and placed the Ariel in a more traditional place to the side rather right in front of the wife. The thought being when you get to wherever the wife is in a good mood rather than an unhappy bunny because she been watching a little piece of fibreglass wobble in front of her eyes for the last long whatever.

I told you this build was a slow one. So my wife declared she wanted to start taking the kids’ bikes with on camp trips.

Not content with bike racks, I instead got roof racks and a basket. I like things multifunctional like that.

So I’ll strap them down, and on trips where I don’t need bikes, I can take something else.

Plus a shovel, radio antenna and awning will make their way up there over time.

I’ve been building my battery box too, a secondhand National Luna Dual Battery Power Pack I got for $110 with a Renogy 100Ah Pro LiFePO4 (has BMS, BT and Self Heating) that I bought new.

The only things left to do is run the wires from the ute battery to the tub, reprogram the Morningstar SunSaver MPPT for lithium, and build the solar controller into the battery box.

Oh, I also added those KO2’s I wanted. All of this in the last two months or so.

Also, solar might have gone to 2x 60W and 2x 90W PowerFilm amorphous panels. The two extra panels were bought off Marketplace for $50 and $300 respectively.

Bought an ARB Commercial bull bar off a panel beater for $300. Complete with “cutting template” (the nose of the Triton it came off), a box full of new brackets, bolts and bits, and fitting instructions.

Only thing that was wrong, was one of the side hoops was a bit bent, but repaired and repainted. I looked it over and despite the dust, it looks absolutely mint and well aligned / symmetrical.

Excuse the not so clean state of my ute, but here’s the dual-battery lead installed.

I’ll finish the cabling in the tub once I figured out for sure where the battery will be located.

That happens tomorrow when we pack for camp. I’m pretty sure it’ll be on the left.
