Trip Report - Nostalgic about the Ghan

In this fourth part of my outback journey, I drive along the Oodnadatta track which is littered with remnants from the old Ghan railway days. As I travel I try to cast my mind back to the late 1800s when this travel/trade route must have been quite a busy place. I couldn’t help getting nostalgic as I mentally formed images of steam trains bringing along much-needed supplies for the gold fields and the many pastoral stations along the route with Afgan cameleers waiting at the many sidings to transport cargo to their destinations.

Thanks again Duncan, a lovely way to spend a winters day viewing another of your informative videos, I have done the track 2 or 3 times but there was one spot I had not seen so I'm off to look at my maps so I don't miss it when I'm next up that way.
May I ask how your partner enjoys the area, does she get into it as much as you do?

We both have done quite a lot of outback travel back in Africa. So she is quite used to it. She too loves the beauty of the outback. This helps.
