Me and the misses have been thinkin of going on a holiday for a while now, Misses wants to go to europe do that whole thing, And ive been trying to talk her into a round trip of Oz.
Wondering if anyone has done it yet, how they convinced there "better half" to do it and how they went about it. Planned the route or just sort of winged it.
Ive allowed 6 months for the trip is this a realistic time frame? I know the more time you allow the better but the morgage couldnt handle it unfortunitly.
Home for that time frame will be my camper trailer, If anybody has any info. or planning tips, book titles on the matter or even sites that cant be missed would all help my case;).

Mick,

Three years ago the wife and I did a 3 month trip from Port Pire, (north of Adelaide) to the top end and then around the west coast.

When I was contemplating the trip my wife was quite (very) hesitant about doing it.

But once we got going she was in heaven. We had our usual bills, (power, phone, council rates, etc). put in direct debits just in case a bill came in while we were away.
As the trip progressed down the west coast towards Perth my wife was beginning to moan, not about the trip, but about having to head home.

So Mick, get your wife into the right frame of mind and get her on the road, she'll never regret it. And by the way, we also had a camper trailer as our home, and we were quite comfortable. But take a portable fan for the top end to keep cool at night.

We are going to do the same trip again in the near future, and we don't even wish to go overseas.

Geoff.

Cheers mate thanks for the heads up and the tips. I think if i include her more in the planning stage let her pick some spots to visit things like that she'll get into it more.
Any thoughts on the time frame ive set?

Once again thanks mate.

Mick,

It's like you have said, there is never enough time, but 6 months will give you a good look around and give you the incentive to return to see the things that you will miss, and to earmark the things you would like to re-visit.

We haven't done an extended trip around the east coast yet, even though we have had several shorter visits. So I can't comment on the time frame on that side. But i think you should be okay with the time you have set.
