Going well, they get cleaned after every use and stored inside, prior to re fitting they get deflated and re torqued ( have not budged the last 3 times )

Tyres are great no side wall grazes just the std block scratches, performance wise they will be hard to beat esspecially while the tread is still near full

they will get a run in few weeks! Can't wait

Would love to give this set up a run in Cape York, just need to organise my self

have you managed to get give your set a run yet ?

I was going to have a lift in lift off canopy made but eventually I'll need a dual cab so not worth spending any more cash on it
The only thing that stays on week to week is the black steel box
The truck looks mint :D

Yes get yourself & the bride sorted you will love it & want to move up here.
Took mine up the Crebb after a bit of rain not much just enough to settle dust etc did some off track exploring to and at 12 psi no leaks all 5 holding 100 %. so im happy. A few bolts did re TQ when i checked them but all good and look flash as can be like yours...

^ sure will mate, just got back from a trip I tend to drop them stright to 14psi and run them at that around the high country
As there is a lot of areas that you are in high 4 just eliminates stopping to re inflate they trail grapples run very smooth there as well

Just a little update

Probably done with any more modifications
Had some some fine tuning done. Drives well.

future ideas will be towards setting up a dual cab. ( and it will start all over!!!!!! )
Fairly painful to get all this way and then realise I need more seats !!!

our little high country stint Boxing Day
Went well

Afterward I ran a trip to toolangi to keep things interesting

Very happy. The Suspension and tyres hooked up very well, Rocky track was first up probably a well suited track for this ute and it Preformed flawlessly.

Blowhard and cockpit. All no dramas

Then walking track.....

Bad decision not walking it first. Took the right hand turn off ( bad idea ) and disaster. half way up after a lot of floating sideways.
We got out and realised not only was this track boulders mixed in with sandy soil but it lead to a dead end . Reversing was not an option I had floated sideways with no traction for a fair way reversing would have seen me into a fair few trees

Only option winch forward and reconnect to main track. Not a good look on 30-40deg hill Boulders mixed with sandy clay soil and I had to cross this sideways to re connect onto the main track. Tyres already at 12psi we started winching I was pulling Boulders out of the ground the size of my tyres ... Eek
A sight to be seen

did I mention it started raining !

On the way over from the bypass to the main track I managed to collect a few rocks. Side step took the impact. ( easy fix )

Managed to re connect onto main track and coast my way back down

Definitely did it the hard way. All went well nothing broke kept the day interesting !

Bad decision not walking it first [\QUOTE]

I've been caught out by being lazy and not checking out steep tracks myself, once I even missed the (chicken track completely)..End result you usually end up in a world of pain..lol

Yep I had all intentions of walking it first but got a tad over excited. !!! Definitely not great practice.

Lucky indeed Towie
Have a few photos of rocky track ledges.
Dunno why I did nt run phone camera on the dash.

A friend has a short vid at the start of rocky track

by the time things looked ugly on walking track. I Was nt too keen on hanging around for photos... It started to rain sky's looked nasty

If we got stuck an hour later I think we would have had no choice but to tie it up and come back the next day

Hi,
Was looking up the search history to see if i can find more info on the infamous walking track and was lead to this page, Do you have any more info or gps co-ordinates for this track ?
Have done it over a dozen times in my triton (walked straight up it) but can never find it as I always end up going with others…
Was out there today looking for it with not much luck in my GU
Cheers

When we went up it was a mess, the right turn off we took was a bad decision, even thow there is huge ledges if you veer left it's a better choice the right was just loose sand/ clay fill In between huge boulders, which I was digging up they were bigger than my 35s and completely covered prior to driving over them, ( must have just been graded ) Even then if it actually lead any where It would not have been that bad as you could just winch up and keep on going but that would be too easy. Oh well was an interesting day.

We walked further up the left there is was an actual inverted ledge shaped with a tyre like hole, yep never seen that before.

It's the other side of the ridge from
Lyndells tracks ( red west ) it's called walking track ( red east ) co ordinates Are
37.43430°S, 145.50948°E

That is correct Sir,
Every time i had gone up that way was with a group of others where i followed them to it, I know all the tracks names etc like blow hard cock pit aeroplane but none of them excepts for rocky would i be able to take you directly too as I am hopeless without a map.
I recently purchased myself a hema and used it this time i went there on the weekend but unfortunately it wasn't marked on their standard map software.
I know the track well though. Its probably my favourite

Heres another of me doing it , this is the top section, i may not know how to get there but doesn't mean I can't drive the track ;)

^ if you want something a little more challanging heading up take the right turn off get to the top and then perform a u turn on that steep section and head back down the way you went up on the video...

Yeah, thats would be pretty crazy, I have done that with the use of a winch, in only front wheel drive, and my rear axle being held on by ratchet straps ;) Can honestly say that wasn't so fun !

Just got back from a Wyperfeld NP/ Bigdesert, First big sand run it preformed well, obviously weight and sand are not to friendly but the extra power and lower tyre pressures compensated.

1 dune I did not get to the top of was BIG K
dug some holes 2m from the Crest.
I had dropped pressure down to 9Psi ( hot )

I was considering going down to 4 but the 4wd after me some one els got stuck in a bad spot and we spent an hour safety getting him down. Always next time, in which time it poured with rain lol go figure

Generally I did notice if I put my foot down half way up a dune it would dig in, if I just held the throttle at a constant load it would sail on through

very smooth over all the undulations, the suspension really handled it well

All up travelled around the 470km mark in 4wd
Have not done the fuel figures yet still need to fill the sub tank, at a guess around the 18-20lts per 100.
