Toyota Landcruiser, 1984

Good Points
It's a Toyota...

Bad Points
It's a Toyota...

What mods have you done?
Front bar, winch, snorkel, UHF and CD player. Came with 2"lift which looks more like 4"... Has a auto locker in the rear but not sure how well it works.

What mods are on the list to do?
Would like to get front and rear air lockers, rear bar, sliders, new set of tyres...

Why did you buy this vehicle?
Bought it for parts for another project but found it was in better nick than the project car... replaced front wheel bearings and swivel hub kit put through it and then roadworthy...

How often do you go offroad?
As much as possible

What will your next vehicle be?
Either another Toyota or a Nissan

Hi Mick,

When are we going to see it in action? Do you know what type of auto locker is in the back?

It's a 60 series... I'll post a few up here in the next few days. Got to take a few first. It's got the 2H boat anchor motor which blows a little white smoke... (overfuelling i think) but i have a spare motor to go in when this one decides to give up. (it's got 450K+ on it and the spare has 1/2 that). The only other thing i would like to do is put a hair drier (turbo) on it to give it a little more punch.

I ordered a set of interco LTB tyres for it yesterday which i'll be getting mid Jan when we get from Millicent. Pics will follow shortly.

Cheers,
Mick

got some 34's for it now... all i need to do now is sort out it's smoking addiction coz it puffs too much. A few of the guys have named it "Puff the magic wagon". I'll post some pics with the bigger rubber soon.

Puff the magic wagon update...

Well for those that don't know... my 60 series has a smoking problem... and those that do know are probably glad that i have tried to fix it. Firstly i changed the valve stem seals (which were stuffed) and gave the valves and valve seats a going over as well... All of this was for nought coz the old 60 still puffed like a chain smoker on a smoko break.
Lucky for me i ended up with my old HJ47 back in my hands after my father in law was going to get rid of it. So now with a donor engine, it was time to start. The HJ47 strip down was uneventful with everything coming off relatively easy... The 60 series was also fairly straight forward as having had most of the gear off from the previous attempt showed me easier and faster ways of disassembly. With the 60 ready for the transplant, i transfered most of the gear on to the donor engine and did some running repairs along the way... like welch plugs one of which had a 5mm dia hole in it. , water pump and thermostat housing... which had a sheared off bolt still in one of the holes. With little bit of effort, this was drilled out and the hole retapped. I still need to fix 3 exhaust studs which were also sheared. (prior to me taking off the exhaust manifold) But everything is going along nicely and the motor should find itself in place by the weekend...

Did u have the Original 2H in it?

The motor out of the 60 is original and has more than 450k on it. The donor motor is also original out of a 1985 HJ47 but this had only done 180K (apparently) when i bought it. It would have only done another 50K in about 7 years. It will be interesting to see how this goes...
