Toyota Hilux Dual Cab SR, 2007

Good Points
Great diesel engine.
Comfy cabin.
Vinyl floors
Lots of aftermarket stuff available

Bad Points
Lack of front bash plate as front end sits too low.
Side steps too low.
Lack of double seals on tailgate hence dust still gets into the canopy.
Not real good for offroad unless you add some mods to it. Do the suspension first!

What mods have you done?
ARB Winch Bar with Warn XP9.5 Winch & IPF Spot/Driving light combo.
OME 2" Suspension Lift with Nitrocharger shocks
16" rims with 265/75 BFG A/T with flared guards to suit
ARB Rear Canopy & Rear Step Bar
GME4400 UHF Radio

What mods are on the list to do?
Run out of money at present but would like to add:
Diff Locks
Stronger front underbody potection.
ARB Steps as the Toyota ones are shite.

Why did you buy this vehicle?
Needed a more reliable 4WD after the Pajero (bless it's soul) keep detonating.
Liked the flexibility of the dual cab. Couldn't afford Prado as replacement so went for the Hilux SR instead of SR5 and spent the difference on 4WD mods.

How often do you go offroad?
Major trip (2 weeks) every year plus 2-3 long w/ends and the odd day trundle in the mud.

What will your next vehicle be?
Toyota

Nice rig.
i find with the new hilux's they are not quite as capable offroad from stock as they started to get to highway minded from about 2005/2006 onwards.

i've got a 2003 model hilux, extremley capable offroad from stock standard. i can outrun a mates new hilux, his is moded to the eyeballs, mine is fairly standard.
mines got the front bash plate from standard.

Just an update. Have since added Brown Davis sumpguard & ARB side steps. Did Billy Goat Bluff and Wonnagatta over cup weekend. Sumpguard has been doing its job really well.

SR's rule. Who needs bloody carpet & chrome mirrors anyway!!

Agreed. 2 buckets of water after the afternnon run to clean the mud out of the drivers cockpit. Would not have been pretty with carpet...
