Toyota 5VZ M/T ECU pin-out!

Hi All,

I am after some help with the electrics for my 1995 4runner with a 5VZ-FE Swap. I have put the engine in and now I have to wire it up. The engine has the original engine loom attached so I am trying to mate the engine loom with the body, repining it into my 5VZ M/T ECU.

I have scoured the net for the pinout including paying for manuals from techinfo.toyota.com without sucsess. I also purchased manuals/diagrams from techinfo.toyota.com and could not find the right one. I also got haynes manuals which show two different diagrams by not my one!

Can anyone help with the pin-out for a Toyota Prado 2002 5VZ M/T ECU?

You might have to get the prado ECU to make it work. Also, you should have a look at some US based 4runner forums. They do some interesting engine swaps there.

Cheers, I have the Prado ECU which is in the photo all I need is the wiring diagram for it which is proving very hard to find.

Does it fit under the bonnet? They lowered the intake height to get them into the 3.4 hilux.

Have you tried this website. It is paid. I usually subscribe for 2 - 3 hours and download the web pages. Not sure if it has the model you are after but it is pretty comprehensive.

Yup, tried that. I have several manuals with wiring diagrams for the 90 Series Prado but when I look at the diagrams none of them match my ECU plugs/pins its really strange. My ECU was brought from wreckers and has all the original VIN, Year, part number etc listed on the ECU. So I know it came from a 95 series Prado!

It fits perfect once you do a 50mm body lift to clear the bonnet. Its a really good swap as it is a lot cheaper because you use all OEM parts and do not have to buy custom bell housing etc like with other engines.

Nice. Better torque/Hp setup than the hilux got with better fuel use too. I body lifted my 3.4 lux but the changeover to prado spec was more than just the plenum so I never got around to it. Good luck with it all.

My understanding is you can lift a 4x4 in NSW 50mm/2inchs without an engineer cert! yes there are some arguments as to why you may still need one but the truth is mechanic's will pass it and police will not fine you as they do know the difference in lift types.

It is a plateable mod in qld and under vsb14. Mine had to go over the pits. No big deal though.

That's funny as I live just over the boarder and I always wished I had QLD rego as most of the laws in QLD are better in my opinion. I believe the NSW lift laws were only recently upgraded as almost every 4x4 is lifted these days. We can also run a 50mm larger tire making the total lift of 75mm (50mm Suspension and 25mm tire).

2” body lift, torsion bar wind and rear 2” springs with airbags for towing. It went over the pits on 31 10.5r 15’s. Tyres in the pic are 285 75 r 16’s which only went on for cape trips etc. The main reason for the body lift was to fit the long range fuel tank you can see in the pic.
