Touring mods

I have completed a few mods for the Disco and the next touring trip, started with he mods for the last one and wanted to refined them a bit for this trip.
Removed the 3rd and 2nd for seats, made a false floor for the back to create a flat surface and a handy storage space for spares, tools and recovery gear.
Also did a false floor to mount the fridge, battery box and oven where the second row seats were
I save about 110 kg removing the seats

Good idea Matt , Would love to have done the same but I keep getting passengers coming for a ride
Just had my eldest son and a mate with us for 10 days and then another couple of friends have just flown over to Exmouth and doing another 10 days with us. I am now driving around with suitcases on the roof

Nice weight saving!

What's the point of mounting the oven there?

Will having the tools under the sub floor be an accessibility issue with a packed vehicle?

Not meant to be negative feedback. It looks great. Just raising a potential frustration.

Good job. I did the same with mine when touring solo. Saved 75kg and gave me space for the second fridge.

Oven is in that spot to best use the space above the battery pack, it gives easy access for heating stuff while traveling but mostly because I didn't want to take up space in the back, that is kept for light weight plastic tubs to store jackets, shoes , some spare food and basically anything that is light weight that isn't needed on a daily basis..
I split the rear section into 2 so the sliding floor doesn't come out to far making it more awkward to get things in and out and when the van is on I still have full access to everything

Wondered what the space underneath the oven was for. Makes sense now. A good low spot for the battery.

Only the second battery, it’s a 7 year old battery set up with 3 gel batteries wired together to go be me 120AH although the capacity has dropped off a bit
I like to keep weight low and well balanced throughout the car and van hence the low and forward location of battery and fridge
The rear axle is well and truely loaded with the twin rear spare wheel carrier and auxiliary 110l fuel tank, add to that the 250kg ball weight of the van and I am grateful for EAS

Yeah that rear axle weight is up there with all that stuff. Mines in the same boat. Used to get a little floaty in the front end with camper attached and full aux tank. Once I put the ARB front bar on that balanced it out a little
