Thuraya Sat phone quick test

Here is a quick test of a Thuraya Sat phone in Western Australia mounted on my window.

Good review.
I've had one for over 5 years now and its been excellent.

Just go to the menu and let the phone find its GPS position so that it knows where it is in relation to the satellite.

It does pick up a lot of noise if its windy making it difficult for the person on the other side to understand you.

Pivotel provide an excellent service which makes a difference nowadays.

Pivotel’s Iridium phone plans have NO charge for incoming calls. I do the same as you, text and get family/friends to call me.

Can you comment on the voice delay compared to iridium? Iridium has a small delay but is OK...just. I imagine the thuraya has a longer delay.

The satellite is a lot further away than the LEO sats, so yes there is a delay, but I haven't found it to be much of an issue when using it.
