as you say your not quite 16, and will be driving it on your parents farm for a year until you get a licence, maybe a roof top tent setup so you can go camp overnight on your property somewhere?

Awesome Rackers, hope it all turns out well.
Coming from the UK where the 16 year olds were full of drugs I was happy to bring my family out here, my boy is now 17 and getting his P's and I would love for him to get into 4x4, I think he might as his mates are.
Stay safe on the roads, there are plenty of d1ckheads out there and my biggest fear as a father is a knock on the door by the police when he goes weapons free.

True Jaye. We dont do them at work due to time constraints, but customers come in asking our price because of quotes ranging from $1700 to $2000 for full rebuild including bearings.

And people bag LR's, just had the D1 all redone , complete swivel hub rebuild both sides with all new bearings, seals shims the whole shebang and at a LR specialist for less the $1000

I think the problem is just thieving mechanics. I can do a side myself in about 4 hours, and about $200 in parts for a full rebuild, but it’s a shit of a job without a hoist. My mechanic charged me just under $1200 last time, but repacked my rear bearings and put a seal kit on the power steering pump as well.
So you’re telling me a grand just on the hubs? Must have been a specialist alright. Oh what a feeling.

How much do you think a Land Rover dealership would charge?
Like I said. There are plenty of mechanics out there. But not many I would take my car to due to cost and or quality of work.

They would charge like wounded bulls without question, most dealers work on about $220-$250 / hour these days.
Even if they have a lower figure on the invoice thay inflate the hours from what was actually spent to increase the hourly rate.
There is no way any of my cars would see a dealer.
Liza just had her new Hyundai serviced, 2 years old and 30,000 km , they charged for brake fluid flush and replacement. LR say 100,000km for brake fluid.
They are all thieves

I do tend to agree with 2yr brake fluid flush irrespective of km's travelled. Brake fluid is hydroscopic (absorbs water). The DOT3 fluid that Toyota seems to continue using (not sure if the new models have moved on or not) is worse for it again - I used to do yearly flush whne I had my 80 series on DOT3
