G'day all,
I've been looking around for cars for a while, and found a decent one. This one is a 1993 Hilux with the 2.8 non-turbo diesel (yes, I know they're slow and I won't turbo it) and 5-speed manual. It's got 318,000K's and i know these things are bulletproof so the K's don't matter too much. It's got stock tyres, a tray with storage underneath and that's pretty much it for $6K. Just wondering what will be the things to look out for if buying it (other than rust) and what would be good first mods for touring/off-roading set-up but also for daily-driving.
Cheers,
Hugh

Offer 4K, settle at 5K .............. Leave it fairly stock you will be surprised where stock tyres will go, cut your wisdom teeth on it, you can have a great time with out spending cash, women will do that for you o_O:cool:

Yeah , i would say go with some what stock as you can.... with just some small up grades.... that way if you do come undone on a track its not going to hurt too much.
Yes some will say you should go lockers and bigger tyres, And god knows what else .. Keep your money for a while.. you may want to upgrade to a better car or upgrade the car it's self later on... or even do something else once you get over the 4WD bug.. Have fun out on the tracks ,learn as you go. And if you can.... join a 4x4 club , they will take you places in a near stock car that you would have thought not possible.
How do i know, look at my car a old pathfinder with some small mods... and i go on some real good tracks/outings with the club i'm in.
Do i do hard tracks ...yes ... and do i bend it .yes... But thats me.. i wanted a car that i could take on hard trips that wouldn't cost me heaps to repair.. And if i did bend it up too much i could walk away from it .. just my thoughts
