So as usual, a bit of a change of plan. Dalhousie Springs and Mt Dare back on the plan.
If we are planning the following trip, do we require a Parks Holiday pass AND a Parks Desert Pass??
We are heading up through Finders Ranges, Marree, Andamooka, Coober Pedy. Uluru, Hermansburg, Boggy Creek, Marla, Oodnadatta, William Creek, Peterborough and home.

Yes, very interested in SA tracks. Heading over to Adelaide and particularly up the Yorke Peninsula for christmas this year, taking the camping kit and plan to get off road along the way. Any suggestions of tracks/routes between Mildura, Adelaide, and YP would be great!

Through Mildura is the obvious route for you to come over, but if you came lower Wyperfeld Nat Pk has some nice driving, you could also check out Murray Sunset Nat Pk by detouring off at Robinvale and coming through from that way.
Murray Sunset isn't too far off the Sturt Hwy if you want a look off that way over anyway.
There's a nice 4x4 Park (Lovedays) on the Murray River just south of Barmera, good fro a relax, some of their property tracks touring, or try the terrain park.
Yorkes is great, there are many little camps through there, many free run by council, some Nat Pk with fees, Innes main camp you have to book online now, fairly new thing, may have local agent arrangement in place for a short time.
Christmas will be busy as many flock over there in the holidays.
Google some of that, you should be able to find info on all of it fairly easy.
If not sing out here and myself / some of the locals will find links for you.

Will likely be vey hot that time of year thru those area's, potentially 40+°. If heat is no concern to you then as Les suggested can be fun in those area's.
If heat is a concern then id be making a B line for Yorks, plenty of area's to explore and some simply stunnig coastline to check out.
1 great camp location that would make a great base camp would be hillocks drive at butlers beach, great campsites,, amenities and small general store on the property, , located 15 mins east of marion bay makes it a great place to set up then go explore what yorks has to offer.
Be sure to book early as its quite popular down there.

Heck yeah, seem to forget temps stuff sometimes, I don't mind the heat too much.
Give anything inland a miss mate, some of those parks will be closed in high temps anyway, and both (especially Murray Sunset) have tracks that are just too isolated to do solo, in case of problems.
Hit Yorkes, it will be slightly cooler there, and you can jump in the big blue thing to cool off !!

Has anyone been down Oodnadatta Track lately
I'm trying to plan out a trip up to Alice Springs and on the way home via Marla to Marree down the Oodnadatta Track in August 2018
Any advice on
-Best time of year (August to September)
-How much water to carry
-How much Fuel required 620km corrugated track
-Towing a 1979 Viscount 16ft Poptop with semi off-road suspension?

Not sure on the best time to go. When we did this in Mar/April 2015, it was dry dry dry. Although there had been some rain but not evident where we went.
How much water? Interesting question. We had 60l in the camper and 2 20l jerry cans. I don't think we used anything from the jerry cans. Depends on how long you plan to spend away from civilisation and where you will be staying.. You can shower at Coward Springs and Oodnadatta but I wouldn't use Coward Springs water for drinking.
How much fuel? See above. Fuel available at Oodnadatta and William Creek then at Maree. For a price!
Towing a 1979 poptop. Driving the Ood tk really punishes your tyres and anything exposed to road gravel/rocks. My BFG ATs are still showing the signs from 2015! Your van will probably cop a beating.. We generally sat on around 75-80km/h and rarely faster. Depends on what traffic / weather has been on there before you. Make sure you get out to the Old Peake Telegraph Station. It's worth the nearly 1hr drive each way from the track. The track out there is a bit rough but worth it. And don't forget Talc Alf just out of Lyndhurst. And Painted Desert too. Great spot to stay at the Arckaringa Station closeby, nice people too. Time it to catch sunset over Painted Desert.
Take your time and have fun! Keep an eye on the weather conditions. A small amount of rain may mean you need to stay put for the day/night.

My wife and I are Planning a family (2 x Adults,2 x Kids) trip to Alice Springs, my wife would like to revisit a similar trip she had previous done twice in high school including Port Augusta, Coober Peddy, Ulura, Olga's, Kings Canyon and Alice, I would then like to head down to Marla then inland via the Oodnadatta Track, Oodnadatta, Algebuckina bridge, Williams Creek, Lake Eyre, Coward Springs, seeing the ruins and Australian roadside Art, Plane Henge, Marree, Leigh Creek, Hawker, Burra, Renmark, Big Desert, Little Desert, Halls Gap, Queenscliff, fairy back over to Portsea then Home
Ford Everest Aftermarket gear
We will be fitting out the Ford Everest for more longer family Touring trips like this
Im happy as the aftermarket gear for Everest are really starting to become available like
Rhino bullbar, LRA 125ltr long Range tank, Suspension Rhino pioneer platform roof racks etc etc
Ive convinced myself to install a winch as they are only about 23kgs with rope for a 9500 lb
Ill be carrying my 14 year old 80ltr Waeco on a slide in the back of the Everest
Upgrade to the 1979 Viscount
Ive research suspension upgrades for my 1979 Viscount Pop Top, the van already has the 45mm straight axle with 1300kg leaf Springs and electric brakes, The upgrade will be an under slung axle with additional shock absorbers kit

The only other item is to replace the old Upright Domestic 3 way 80ltr fridge with a Brand new 240/12V Danfoss 95ltr Fridge/Freezer

on our last big trip up to Bundaberg the old 3 way fridge did not cool belong 15 degrees in the hotter weather, I'd installed 2 x fans in the back no good, had the fridge tested and serviced before we left, I'd had no trouble with it in Victoria, luckily I was carrying the 2 x 35ltr Waecos in the boot of the car via a portable dual battery system, ive just replaced my 10 year old 2 x 100amp/hr jayco batteries with 2 x 140amp/hrs which we also have 2 x 125w Solar panels on the roof and for the just in case factor a Honda 1kva Gen, so hopefully should run the 12v upright in the Caravan

Looking for any advice on setting up the Everest for the longer Touring adventures and any advice on awesome places / attractions to add to the list, also best time of the year I'm thinking August/September and it taking about 23 days

We did part of the track....May 2015.....was still in low 30c s then....track was good ..as we were 2 days behind a grader....did it in pajero and onroad van
