Some questions about Bendethera

Some friends and I are planning a camping/biking/4WD trip to Bendethera. We are planning on using a Navara ute and and Landcruiser Bundera both with slight lifts, no snorkels or winches. So the questions that I have:

1. Will we be able to handle the water crossings or will we have to find a dry way in?

2. Are two cars enough to get in and out of there in one piece?

3. Anything else that you guys think is relevant.

Thanks heaps.

Yes water only 30 to 60 cm deep shouldnt be a problem.

2 cars are more than enough singles can go in depends on which way you entre either dry creek,Little sugar loaf , dampier and merricumbine fire trails.

Just enjoy the area and if you have bikes just keep your distance from any campers and be aware there are small kids usually down there.

Have fun and enjoy

G'day Melveee and welcome aboard.
The easiest and most direct route for you is down the coast to Moruya, turn right towards Kiora then head in via Merricumbene fire trail which is marked in most portable GPS road type maps.
As split pin said the crossings are not hard though just be sure to stop for 15 min or so before the first crossing to let your engine and brakes cool off a bit first.
Gets a lot of people around chrissie but the caming area's are huge so easy to find a good spot.
The run down from the top of Merricumbene track into the valley would be mad on a MB - get ready for some air time;) the conservation mounds are huge!

On a Map: moruya nsw australia - Google Maps

Thanks for the heads up Walkabout. Fat downhill runs are now definitely in the plan :D

At the moment we are thinking of getting in from the west via the minuma trail and dampier trail. It looks like we can start the track from Krawarree Road at 35 47.9779S 149 37.997E (just looking at google earth). Has anyone tried it from here?

We will be hitting the Merricumbene on the way out though. Or should we do this East to West?

The route in as mentioned above is rougher than from Moruya, caution should be used when desending into the valley as this section is not just steep but can be rough with semi loose surface and a bit dangerous if it has been raining.(has not been graded in a fair while)
We tend to head in via Moruya and out via Snowball, either way you choose should be fine just take it easy if this is your first run into Bendethera and enjoy ( try to find a camp near the river as it gets bloody hot down there this time of year, expect the river to be cold as ice:eek:

A few years of sedentary life just means that short downhill runs are the current extent of my capabilities =P

Will be pulling out my trusty specialized hard rock for this one and hope for the best.
