i dunnow . my 200w kings blanket i chuck about in my CT has travelled really well . never missed a beat so for me it was a great $200 purchase . I will prob get a HK blanket as a backup but for my setup the 200W blanket keeps everything topped up. Redarc is all hypeNot so flash on reliability though unfortunately
Buy 2# Kings units and you cannot go wrong
Do you people take zero notice of what is happening to the world or do you just not care or are you to wrapped up in your own life to not notice?
I am sure your children and their children will thank us for these attitudes.
Perfect example of where new emoji are needed, shaking my head right now
Do I really need to explain how cheap crap that is know to have a short life span is not good for the planet?I don't get that. You attack someone for proposing 2 solar blankets for camping on environmental grounds, but just 20 mins before that post, you posted that you will get a generator for your van presumably to power the inductive stove you said you planned to get. Over on the "time to give up and get a generator" thread.
Hmm your comments seem apply to your own action times 1000 more than a couple of solar panels. How many ways can a gennie polute more than a solar blanket?
Perhaps if @a1bert camps next to you, you should ask him to turn his solar blanket off because its annoying you. Lol
Do as I say, not do as I do?

I've had a bunch of Kings stuff over the years and quite frankly I've never had a problem with them. Maybe I look after my gear better than others. In fact, I'm certain I look after my gear better than others. Not so flash on reliability though unfortunately

Take (for example) the video that started this discussion. I noticed part way through that video that the Kings blanket was obviously wet enough for the water to create a damp spot on the ground all around it. My guess is that it had been left out overnight and the dew had condensed on it. We all know that those blankets shouldn't get wet because they're not designed for it. So are any reliability issues the result of the quality of the product or poor treatment on the part of the owner?
I had another issue with his comments about how the surface of the panel(s) deteriorated over a "week of light use". I've had my 120watt blanket virtually since they came out (4 or 5 years now) and I don't have that issue. Why? I did notice he didn't wipe any of the dirt or dust off them before he packed them up but that might have just been for the video and not his normal practise.
I'm not saying that Kings gear is any better or worse than anything else because I actually don't know. My stuff is OK but that doesn't mean everything they flog off is. But I am saying there may be more to the story than the simple phrase "all their gear is unreliable". I'd be prepared to bet that every manufacturer has a certain percentage of failures in their sales and the numbers probably arn't that much different. But the more stuff you sell, the higher the physical failure numbers will be. 1% of 100 units is 1. 1% of 100,000 unit is 1000. Same percentage much higher numbers for the bulk seller.
Not sponsored by Kings but if they want to send some stuff my way for "testing" purposes, I won't say no.
Always like having new kit but can't afford to keep buying it.
Yes, I have stereotyped more than one driver with a kings awning/annexe - I don't want to be one.Does anyone else reckon they'd sell more if it was unbranded and didn't have Kings written on it?

I don't think it would make any difference. Those who have something against the brand will always find something against the brand whether its got its logo stenciled on the gear or not. Those who don't will buy it anyway.Does anyone else reckon they'd sell more if it was unbranded and didn't have Kings written on it?
Absolutely. From what I've seen, Redarc blankets seem to be designed to cop a shower of rain. From experience, I'd suggest the Kings ones can't.The manual for my REDARC 115W solar blanket doesn't mention anything about not using it in the rain. I've left it out over night a number of times. It is for outdoor use, so in my mind, I assume it is reasonably "weather proof". The 5-year warranty does not have any exclusions related to that either (as far as I can tell
Lol, I cop shit for having so much ARB gear, it is what I have used for many years and I feel I can rely on it or get it sorted in so many places around and within Australia when I am remote.I don't think it would make any difference. Those who have something against the brand will always find something against the brand whether its got its logo stenciled on the gear or not. Those who don't will buy it anyway.
Its like buying fishing shirts. Do I pay full price for a plain one or do I buy the one with BCF plastered all over it so I can save a few bucks to go towards beer and bait. If you ask my kids the choice is obvious....I havn't worn anything fashionable since 1990 so buying the cheapy is the way to go.
Interesting comment about Enerdrive. Tell us more please. How many are you using? In what installation? What is their charging regime? How many were faulty? Any issues with warranty? If it mass production will be always one or two not good. We using endrive lipo sometimes we find one cant fully charge and have to return it for replacement. The rest about how we lookafter our gear so have life last
Am not put down any product that people sell or work for it. Our industry is security cctv with solar panel. We bought a pallet of battery agm or lipo from knokoff chinese to the best one in the market. We using smart victron as a charging device and the battery can be 12 or 24v series or pararel. No issue for waranty because we dealing with local distributor.Interesting comment about Enerdrive. Tell us more please. How many are you using? In what installation? What is their charging regime? HAPPY TRAVELS EVERYONEI purchased a kings blanket and it shit itself in 12 months with very little use. The redarc did the same. However I purchased a kings 200 and a 160 solar panel mounted one on the vehicle and the other on a stand one runs a dc dc charger the other not. Both have been running non stop for over 6 months and both achieving respectable numbers for my 120 ah and my 100 ah . I have been 4wding for many years military and recreational and always study before i purchase any product as most people do. I have found kings to be quite ok over the years, this is only my thoughts and I don't want to disrespect any other persons opinion. don't jump in toe test first check price v product. And remember if a product does not perform as it is advertised or it is misrepresented get your money back.
