With all the rain we've had in Sydney I hadn't worked all week so decided to head west, sofala was the destination they hadn't had much rain at all and I had not been out there.. so packed the cub and hilux Thurs night and headed off Fri morn hoping to get a good bit of weather or atleast less rain . After stopping in at lithgow for some food beer n fuel we arived in sofala about 2ish , got some pics in town and spoke to a local about the rain she said they had about 20mm all week .. our camp for the night was at first crossing camp ground about 4-5kms east out of town on the upper turon rd .. these camp grounds had toilets and bbq'd facilities picnic tables under shelter but if you head down along the river there many camp sites right on the water would be great for summer . Being a Friday we had a choice of any site so parked ourselves right on the river ,set up and went on a firewood mission before the sun set and yes we had patches of sun .we cooked ourselves a nice meal had a couple of beers round the fire . .sat morn was nice not cold at all a touch of sun poked through the clouds unfortunately had to pack up and head home as it was only an o/n trip but got to look around and even lock the hubs aswell .. will defiantly be back this way again or head a bit further to hill end . These old gold minning towns are a True piece of history in there own little way what a place gotta love the country .... Pete
