Snake Racing vs OME lift kits (79 series)

hello guys
i think this one is a basic question but can anyone sort it out for me please??
according to SnakeRacing site their 2" lift kit has coils for the front and extended shakles for the rear, but OME and others like Ironman have a set of leaf springs for the rear for their basic 50mm lift kits,
if my main reason for the lift is to fit 33/12.5/16 mud tyres, why should i change the original leafs isnt SnakeRacing solution simpler and better??
cheers

It really doesn't matter. Typically, with the spring option. You'll find they use a different leaf count. Typically stronger springs with a higher leaf count are used, not always though. The spring is longer to provide the lift, giving the suspension less "twist" and helping the drive line some what. Standard springs twist more and the drive line takes more wear. You'll find too the stronger springs are slightly more stable than just the shackle option. As your centre of gravity is now higher, it helps the rear when cornering.

Mate always go with a suspension kit rather than a makeshift job with shackles.
2" lift with shackles requires 4" longer shackles. you still have to change the shocks to suit.

Hmm, surprised nobody pointed out that extended shackles are illegal in all states although some swear if you paint them black so they are hard to spot, they magically become legal! :D

Another good reasons to go with new leaf springs I reckon.
