Simpson Desert

Well I took my Disco 4 across the Simpson in 2021, what a great trip, car performed brillantly and will be doing it again. I found the Disco was built for this sort of driving. Out crossing was from East to West and back again , Birdsville being our jump off and return as we left our caravans there. Looking forward to doing the desert again. 2022 is Fraser island taking the caravan accross with us this time so should be interesting.

No tears, it is a trip I want to do but some bloody virus and work keeps getting in the way, I have had some serious thought in joining a desert trip that is currently being discussed on the forum but I already have a 3 month trip planned for later this year.
I have full confidence that my D4 would be just as reliable as any other car of the same age on the same trip :)

Just on a side note... My trip last year across the Desert.. When we reached Big Red I was amazed to see the latest Disco-5 Stuck half way up Big Red. It couldn't go forward or backwards and it was quite awhile before they managed to shift it. Don't know what happened but just thought it funny where it was stuck...

Lol I'm going to guess it's a newbie mistake, not letting pressure down enough. The first (or only) dune out of birdsville and thinking 20 PSI is low enough.

I got stuck right on the crest one time. I took the power off too early. Mind you I had a Tvan in tow. It was still embarrassing. Lucky there wasn't a Disco in sight to tow me off it.

Or it could be better he same as my first time on soft sand in the D4 hated it and was ready to sell it as soon as I got home, by day 3 i loved the electrics and wizardry , it does take a bit to get used to and very different to a old school 4by

They'd be the ones that said over the radio "Here, old my beer, I can do this one in 2WD as well !"
