Hey all.

I have a 2019 Prado Kakadu with KDSS, i am after side steps/rock sliders to suit the KDSS model, i have tried the big companies like ARB and TJM who would not install due to the KDSS lines running next to the chassis. I am wondering if anyone with a Kakadu has had any luck fitting side steps and where i could get some to suit the Kkadu model? thanks

Hi HammyPrado. I have an 09 VX and had the same issue.
I ended up with iron man steps and had them fitted by ironman who relocated the KDSS lines. They just heated and bent them around the mounting area which has worked a treat. Had them going for 5 years with no problems.

Where abouts because I've just had Ironman here in Townsville saying that they couldn't fit them to my 09 VX. Might get them to contact your installer.

Hi Jake, I’m fitting these to mine now, do you have a picture of the rear bracket to chassis area so I can see what they did with the pipes there? Maybe also a few more angles. I think I’m going to cut the lower corners off the support bracket to give the pipes more room, and bend out the original guard and weld wings to it to keep those pipes protected. Research also suggests to bend the steel pipes cold.

So not keen on bending pipes, this was my solution…(I paid a local company to do this as I broke my welder!)
I would note that upon cutting the tube to shorten it, it was very rusty on the inside - not very impressive.
It would also be stronger if it had a square section at the back of the step and supports that go to the original step mounting holes.
I cut a small slither off the front of the step as it was too close to the front sill section.

Hope it works.

I made my own up for my rangie,
Same with the rear bar and I had to modify the arb bull bar due to a 2" body lift.

If you can get parts like that they are custom made and very expensive.
Best of luck.
