Side Awning Install

Hi
I have an 2x2.5m XTM side awning that I need to mount to my cross bars. I have heard it can be mounted just using U Bolts. My question U Bolts by themselves will be enough to hold it in place? It's quiet heave, so I don't know if it would be secure or if it would come loose over time. I have the L brackets attached to the awning, which I would like to us U bolts to mount to the cross bars.

Would be super appreciative of some advice

No reason why you can't do that, as long as they are done up evenly alternating as you tighten . . . and maybe use an extra nut each thread to 'lock' them.
Check them after they've been on the vehicle for say a few days, then again after a week, a month, as they might settle as you drive it for a while.
I'd make sure the U bolts have a good heavy flat plate, and put that up to to sit flay across the L brackets sitting on top of the roof bar.

Also probably no reason why you cant bolt to your roof bars, if you can drill them.
Then you can use suitable length HT bolts and nylock nuts, maybe drill an extra hole on the L brackets and use 3 for each of those.
