I really like that fold out bench and sink . I've been thinking about doing something like the bench but the addition of the sink is a beauty, something for me to plan
Ime not mad on the rooftop tent and awning though( even though I have an awning) what happens when you set up camp then need to go and get firewood or move for whatever reason
Thats whats stopped me getting an rrt aswell, if moving everyday probably not an issue but if base camping would be a pia i reckon.

Wet season setup.

Six metre tarp, the small green tarp was moved as required for protection from either sun or storm and I slept in the back snug as a bug.

Ground sleeping is out of the question because I'm on the banks of the Fitzroy river and there are salties here in number.

Plenty of spare ropes, pegs and posts in case things go Kimberley crazy. Still have good access to offside of tray and when I set it properly not too much water pools on top. Need a pretty good gimpy hammer 'cos there aint no topsoil left.

The views are pretty special. Back in '78 the river had a major flood and was 25km wide here. About 2 to 3 metres deep here now so probably about another 20 metres or more during the flood and everything you see would be under water. This is some serious river. At the end of the dry, the river is a series of pools and you can walk across and explore the pools etc.

Sharee, this is a Durarig 4.8m x 4.8m tarp, it actually goes over the roof and sits out about 800mm on the drivers side. It has aluminum telescopic poles under the roof rack that extend out so I have coverage down the drivers side as well, unfortunately i don't see it working with a RTT. You could always cut a tarp into an L shape, get acanvas sewer to put in some rope and run sail track down the side and across the back, slide the tarp in and bingo, you have the poor mans foxwing, set up would not take any longer and about a 15th of the price.

We used a roof top tent thru the Pilbara and Kimberly's, we did get an extra bit of eggshell foam for the mattress and it still folds closed with that and the sleeping bags and pillows. Mostly we use it without the annex set up, and on hard ground put the ropes under the legs of the ladder as you can see in the pic. For the price there fantastic, as quick if not quicker to set up than a camper trailer, and your off the ground away from the crocs :)

You need a good Drill (I now use a 240 volt with an Inverter as my cordless wasn't powerful enough) with Masonry Bits Mate & even that is not enough.
I saw a guy spend three days in Broome trying to put in half a dozen pegs.

Ha ha, yeah. There have been a couple of occasions when I've had issues but nothing that some serious swearing and and almost maniacal level of violent swinging of the gimpy won't fix. :D
