Really not that hard to learn, master maybe just need a little more effort. Numb's right though, once you start catching fish on fly might as well leave the other rods in the shed.

Little Brown caught after about an hours hike up the Eucumbene river from Denison Campground.
Turned out to be the only one caught for the whole weekend.
Congrats, nice looking brown.

Nothing like the mountains with a bit of snow on the ground, trying to entice a trout :)

Caught on fly or lure?

Geez that brown has amazing spot patterns. Was it caught in the Snowy Mtns area?
Hey mate,

it was in Tassi, subzero temps, 100mm of rain over night lol, so we certainly worked for our fish was one to remember

returned all but one female that went belly up, we didn’t have oil, butter or even salt, we just boiled it on our hiking stove and I must say very nice

I always take some lemons and herbs that I dedicate to fresh trout. Yum.

Usually, the lemons end up in a G&T to use them up.

Sort of pack as little as possible, I think my pack was about 20kg and I was extremely happy with that years past it was pushing 25+

I guess We could treat ourselves to lemon water tea if we dont decide to keep a fish,

Luderick (blackfish) on fly from Coffs and Port Stephens recently.
Great fun, a lazy fly-fishing option (don't need to move far), also involves casting to sighted fish. View attachment 75430 View attachment 75431 View attachment 75432

My father was a mad black fisherman but back then they were called the N word. so I was initiated into fishing as a young bloke catching them as well. The floats were hand made as were the rods, initially with bamboo blanks then moved on to glass. the hooks were eyeless snelled Mustard hooks , the sinkers were cut from sheet led and light crimped to your 4lb line with pliers The reels were centrepin and I still have his old timber reel with brass fittings in the cupboard
A great sporting fish to catch but I don’t have fond memories of eating them though

A little flathead at Coffin Bay also caught another flathead a whiting and a couple of legal size surf crabs a couple of days ago. It's a nice quiet place to visit definitely coming back again.
