Sand stuck in brakes pads

Hi there I have a 2018 Ford Ranger XLT mk3 and I have taken it to Bribie island along the beach a couple times. Every time I come off the beach I get a loud sound coming from both the front brakes. It sounds like I have sand stuck in the pads. It goes away after about 10km of driving but it’s super loud. Anyone know the cause of this? I have asked around other mates with Rangers but they have never had a problem. Thanks

What you describe could be sand getting into the brakes. But having spent a bit of time driving the beach on Bribie I can't remember having that problem before.

Do you use any cleaning products on your wheels or tyres that could make surface of your brake rotor or caliper tacky and cause sand to stick?

The only thing I have had done is rust proofing underneath maybe I should take off the wheels and spray some break cleaner

Never hear of it. Ive done plenty of beach work in my PX. If it goes away I wouldn't be too concerned, My disk brakes on the mountain bike scream at the slightest bit of contamination on them - We throw a handful of mud on them and keep on riding - literally.

Yea that’s the thing it doesn’t happen to anyone so I’m thinking there’s something wrong with it. I’m not too concerned because it goes away it just screams for about 10km to the point everyone looks thinking somethings broken on it

My MTB sounds like a fucking trumpet or violin being played by a drunk fool through a PA system, no matter what I do i can't stop it. Tried everything. I sometimes now smash it with the hose before a ride to wet the pads which works for a bit (and it bites better) but as soon as dry its back

you can hear me braking from 300m away, and these days I just don't brake - which has its own issues.

btw my brakes never make noise after beach work, but a mates new hilux does ... it sounds like stones stuck in a caliper guard and is damn noisy. He just gets under there and bangs it a few times. Must have a design that's vulnerable to build up / trapping bits.

I do get wheel wobbles after mud /wet sand work due to gunk inside the rims altering the balancing, but not braking.

Problem solved then mate ,
I must say it's more likely that something is wrong with your brakes.
Have you checked if they have any meat left on them ??
Even my BT50 makes no brake nosies at all , and its really crap in soft sand being a manual , likes to dig itself in and I have to crawl out with the diff locks on.

Hey Rowan. Mate, I'd check you don't have a cracked disc pad. Sometimes they break up but sit in there and do odd things at various times until something gives. Wherever you get your car serviced should be happy enough to pull a wheel off and check it for you. 5 min job with the tools. You really can't tell for sure unless you pull the caliper off. Definitely worth checking out.
Brakes can be a pain but when you need them ...
Good luck.

The Ute is just over a year old and has only done 8000km from brand new I’d hope there would be some “meat left” on the pads but I’ll have a look tomorrow
