Hi all just seeing if anyone else out there has experienced an rpm surge when cruising along. It's a 2012 bt50 auto and over the last week it's slowly developed a surge if about 200rpms spoke to a mechanic near our yard he reckons it's the torque converter.

If the torque convertor slips, it will cause a small incrase in engine revs.
When was the last time you had the auto serviced?

I haven't it just had it's 190ks service. I'll have to get a hold of the mechanic and see what he says it's just odd no extra fuel being used no lack of power just tghis little surge which is inconsistent

If 190K and never been serviced, think you may need to get it done. Change fluid and filter and ypur problem should be gone. Get mine done every 60-80K kms.

An auto servce will take a couple of hours, only due to workshop scheduling, and about $300 odd. Go to a specialist auto shop, not the dealer. Good luck.

fingers crossed a service helps, those auto boxes are pretty fragile and 190k is getting up there for them.
They are a pretty $$ service (at least when i had mine) as the oil is $$$$$ and not many safe third party options but it has been a few years.
The torque converters also tend to eat themselves on occasion.

 does that mean the auto hasn't had a service for 190,000 km o_O
I do mine every 20,000 I must be toooo keen :p
Gee, every 20K, that is indeed keen. And probably a waste of money unless towing maximum loads under harsh conditions at ALL times.

I wouldn't have a clue when or if it has been done.
It's the nicest car I've had so really want to look after this one. Off to the mechanics she goes.

Just take it and get all the fluids changed .
I have a manual BT50 so dunno too much , but hopefully that will fix it.
My cousin is a farmer and has has got a auto and he has had no problems to date.

Make sure they haven’t fitted the fuel lines backwards after the service if they have you won’t enough fuel pressure
