Rockhampton

As all of us Qld'ers know Rockhampton has always been famous as a cattle town but it's new claim to fame is as Australia's biggest Gold Town. Yes that's right. Goldrush and "The Golden One" are heading to Rocky. Just got a new job up there so in a couple of weeks it's goodbye to Brisbane. I will still come back to Brissy from time to time but will now live up north. Need to find some new tracks near Rocky and someone to wheel with, and a bit of local knowledge on fishing spots would be good too. Hope to catch up with all the S.E.Qld crew before I go.

Congradulations on the new job Goldrush - I hope you enjoy it up there.

I was there about 3 weeks ago had Lunch at an awsome pub on the river not sure of the name but it was really old and near where they print the papers. Check that out it was really nice.

Cheers

I will miss all the crew from down here but hope to get a few people up in Rocky involved in the site. If I can get as much interest up there as we have around the South East we might be able to knock off those Mexicans once and for all. LOL :D:D:D:D:D

That would be The Criterion (The Cri to locals). The Cambridge (another pub) also do a nice steak.

David, You seem to know the local pubs fairly well. We could make a good team.

Five Rocks in the Byfield National Park is the place you want to check out. It's a bit over an hour from Rocky on the coast. Great spot for a weekend and most of the time, you'll have the place to yourself. I spent 20years in Rocky, but finally escaped. ;) I never had a 4x4 back then, so always just tagged along with mates.

Here's the EPA link.
