He was a great bloke, one of a kind

I drove the Mt Airly track twice & had the honor of meeting on the last trip. We talked about old Aircraft & I told him I flew the DC-3 & he said he would fly with me anytime - I wish we had.

Bill, a mate has a DC-3 engine mounted and running as a display in his shed. I'll have to get a pic and the details on it. From memory I think he aid there's only 3 left flying.

Can he afford the price of the Oil? They used 1 or 2 Gallons per hour (around 4.5 to 9 Ltrs per hour).
Nearly all DC-3's used the Pratt & Whitney 14 cyl Engine but all but one of the DC-3's I flew had the 9 Cyl Wright Cyclone.
Same power & virtually the same power settings.
They were ear splitting on Takeoff.
