Hi NIBS,

Mate I just hooked up mine tonight. I mounted my camera on the inside of the small door at the top. Just used a couple of self drilling screws, so it should hold for a while, corrugations would be a bit of an issue, but we won't be on any of these for a while.
As for the wiring I ran the positive wire from the screen to a cig plug, (so I can turn it on any time. The camera is not an infra-red camera, but the vision is still very good).

This plug then goes into a 4 socket power board that I made up that is velcroed to the centre console on the passenger side. (this board is only used for phones, gps etc as I have two sockets on the back of the centre console wired with 6mm through a fuse block and to the aux battery under the bonnet for anything that needs a bit more)

The power for this runs from the standard cig plug near the sub tank switch, so it only comes on when you turn the key to accessories or start the patrol up.

I mounted the screen to the pop up door near the top of the dash. This little hidey hole will not be used as it will have two little screws securing it shut.

Hope this helps

Greg

Sorry NIBS I should of said that we have a patrol also.

Depends on you camera type, a shop bought system would be better off picking up yu power feed from the cab area as you could then easily include a manual switch but if you use a raw camear and fed to your GPS for example as I did then your reverse light wire simplifies this type.
Cheers and pass another.

I added a camera from BRASH IMPORTS to my Car PC monitor

Picked up power from the reversing lights and mounted on the bottom of the tailgate

Replaced the factory conduit into the tailgate with some split conduit

And mounted the screws on the inside lip of the tailgate.

Hard to work out wher to mount it on a ute. I seriously considered using a camera ike this

And drilling a hole in the tailgate and mounting it flush. but was not quite game to do it!

So when in use, the video feed ends up here:

Hi NIBS,

Mate I just hooked up mine tonight. I mounted my camera on the inside of the small door at the top. .......

I rigged mine inside the Large RIGHT door on a bracket using the bolt holding the top Stop light (Take the cover off - loosen the bolts to install the bracket) IN THE ARC OF THE REAR WIPER so that when the rear window gets dirty I can wash it.

I have mine on whenever the accesories are on & I CUT THE WIRES on the camera for the night vision as it causes a problem with the rear window.

Corrugations have not been a problem.

I installed a wireless camera with IR. The camera is attached to the wind deflector on the Prado so it overlooks the bumper and gives a good view.

Things I would change since installing.

1. I wouldn't buy a camera with IR because on a hot day it causes flaring.
2. Buy a wired camera system, less interference.
3. Purchase a screen that is 4" minimum for detail.
4. A good dynamic camera is better than a camera with IR especially if you have good reversing lights

Add a bypass switch so the camera can be on when not in reverse so you can check the trailer
