Relationship Between Diesel Injection Timing & EGT?

Just thought I'd put the question out there to gauge what people think.


My Opinion:

Retarded timing higher EGT (Exhaust Gas Temp)

Advanced Timing lower EGT

I've never actually had a pyro on any pump i've changed timing on and i've only really worked with rotary and direct injection anyway. Try it..... see what happens. Or better still talk to the injector/turbo specialists. It certainly isn't something to get foolhardy with. Nothing like melting pistons eh.

Its almost a philosophical question

In a Nut shell i have installed a Pusher or Lift pump on my Patrol and it has made a significant difference.

I believe the difference is due to the timing being controlled by the pump on the back of the injection pump. This pump rather than cavitating while sucking now has positive pressure at all times. And the timing of the engine should be consistent now at all times.
