Blown away.
With no moon, I ventured for dark sky's to play with a new camera and test out some nightlapse photography (pity you cant post vids directly)
Anyhow, some considerable miles north of Kal, The clouds parted finally and I started to set up for a nightlapse shoot. First a few framing shots, then let the camera rip for 1.5 Hours.

Not seen until the morning when I downloaded the pics onto a PC, I noted, not only did I get the galactic core rising, but I also got the last remnants of the aurora australis before it faded out. I cant believe 1. I got a pic of the aurora and 2. It was captured so far north.
Pretty stoked with that effort.

Time was aprox 2245 hrs. Must have been a big coronal mass ejection to be seen this far up. Hopefully more to come as we enter the sun spot maxima.

How bloody good. Was that last Wednesday? It was the biggest aurora we've had in ages.

I would like to say it was gold, but it was magenta :)

I can only imagine how good it must have been down south.

Still stunned I fluked the shot. Pic was taken Thursday 23rd.
