I have been to Wilbinga (the panorama in my sig was there) It is a great little area nice and close to Perth

Never tried but you do need the proper kit such as super strong filters otherwise there is a chance that you will burn out your sensor.
Amazon just did a big recall on 'solar' filters that they had sold recently for the upcoming solar eclipse because they weren't strong enough.
