My question is, did the product fail or did the user fail to read the instructions for the product. Thank goodness they don't have the same concern regarding vehicle users otherwise we would all be back to the horse and cart.
Cheers.

Possibly the instructions that come with the product, to place trivet in correct position and do not use oversized pans, there is also a safety alert from the Department of Natural Resources and Mines Safety Alert No 54 22nd January 2013 quoting the operating instructions. There is a visible sticker on the trivet explaining its use.

I might run a bit of silver sisalation under the hinged lid, might help keep it cooler in there.
Mind you, been using the stove for a fair while now . . . just using smallish round pots, the kettle, or suitable smaller size frypan.

I don't have the CRV canisters, bought a heap (carton of 28) from Bunnings on special for $1.80 each.
Have used nearly half of them.
Probably these were going cheap before the first batch of CRV ones came in, hadn't seen the new ones at the time I purchased the stove.

On mine (One of the banned ones) there is a safety catch that prevents the gas being locked on without the Trivet being the right way up.

The current bcf catalogue, has a butane cooker in it. So why can this one be sold?

Some are ok, some not. Catalog could also pre-date the recall as i was at BCF yesterday and no single cookers to be seen but they did have a double.

I saw two butane cookers used on weekend. One was snatching another from a bog, without rated recovery points and using a d-shackle to join the straps.....i didn't know what to do :what:

Just to adding my two cents worth and I am by no means an expert. For the few people saying they will continue to use their cooker. The way I see it, if your cooker is on the list and something goes wrong whilst using it, I doubt any insurance company will cover any losses.

What list, huh. Just do a Sargent Shultz. "I hear nothingggg" "I see nothingggg"

From what I here the issue was caused by miss use. I don't see them banning cars because of all the d!ckheads that mis-use them, or alcohol that is mis-used. Freaking nanny state!!!

Mixed messages are confuzzling me! I will still use mine, we've always used them well ventilated. My gasmate double is a great cooker to use, and a single campmaster is handy. Both mine weren't on the list for bannage.

Exactly. If these things were as bad as they say, We'd all be blown up by now with how many there is out there.
