Political correctness just going crazy.

"Political correctness is a joke!" got me thinking about the statement (I must have too much time on my hands). A bit of wiki history is interesting
I heard the Kanye West song "Gold Digger", playing on the radio a couple days ago and noted how it just didn't sound right without the original 'offensive word describing someone with dark skin' lyric. Reminds me of the recent moves to remove statues in the US and UK of historical figures whose values/actions society now disapproves of. I can't say I'm a fan of society trying to abolish/change history. I'd rather we just put up another plaque next to the statue outlining what the person did that now offends society. Back to Kanye West, I've the original version I prefer to listen to. As a politician would say, don't take offence as none is intended. Here's the politically correct version of Gold Digger, for those who are interested.

Daughter just told me that she's heard that there is now a petition around calling for the change in name of yet another product. Someone is upset by the name of the Streets ice cream...... Golden Gaytime. To me its just an ice cream with no derogatory meaning behind the name. Interestingly enough I asked the son how he felt about it (thought he wouldn't like it) and he said "It's an ice cream". Yet the word gay is used in the
Acronym LBGTQIA but that is fine. And there is the gay and lesbian mardi gras. Seems like its ok for the same word to be used for one use when it suits, and not for and ice cream.
Let's change the name of Barney Banana's. Must be a Barney out there somewhere that finds being called a banana offensive.
Will this crazy s**t ever stop?

What about this ice cream? Very popular in the Cathlolic Church I believe.

Too late to change it all now.
With help from the mainstream media, we could have laughed them back to reality but it has gone the opposite way.

The w____r that started the Coon cheese debacle is now making a big deal about not being consulted for approval of the new name LOL

Even before all the latest rape stuff coming out, new govt guidelines were introduced on the words to not write down like mother and father.

What about all those male and female air and hydraulic fittings, they must be close to porn.

They're was something I read on another forum that sort of summed up the stupidity of political correctness, something like -" not letting kids say he/she or black/white or watch classic old movies like gone with the wind because it's offensive, but they're allowed to play GRAND THEFT AUTO which allows them to steal a car and run over and kill a prostitue to avoid paying her for services rendered."------and another one ----"Political correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and promoted by mainstream media which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of s*** by the clean end."

Golden Gaytime has a double whammy problem now.

Not only is there a call for it to change the name from Golden Gaytime, but there is also another group calling for it to change to Vegan.

Oh and it has been suggested that it be called a Golden Happytime given gay no longer means happy to some. When it was named in 1959, no one had associated gay with homosexuality btw.

So if the company caves in it won't be the same name or same recipe. Seriously where is the world going?

Why the hell don't these people go and make their own product and they can do whatever the hell they want with it. Leave the rest of us alone.

You have to wonder if the agenda of these people is as stated or for self notoriety. Same for many protesters - like the guy that stopped traffic yesterday. He had a grin from ear to ear when interviewed.

So the word Gay and its historical meaning has been hijacked for another meaning and then they want to tell those that are using the work in into intended correct context that they can no longer do so ???
I’ve got another idea how about those that want to use the word Gay for their sexual orientation come up with another word and leave the ice cream alone, it was using the term before they were

I went to a new doctors surgery yesterday and had to fill out the usual information sheet with my details , next of kin allergies and illnesses etc etc
The question of my gender was tick a box and I had a choice of Male, Female,Neither and Unknown o_O o_O WTF is this world heading
Word meanings are hijacked all the time. Holy f#%k and holy sh#t mean the same but if you go and do either of them they're quite different... :)

If Brian is offended by an ice cream he has bigger issues to overcome .
And Sky news wouldn't have a barrow to push. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have something to do with it to get click bait. The gay community has labelled it as the actions of one guy who is a known troll.

I'm not into conspiracy theories, but I also wouldn't be surprised if the Chinese Communist Party didn't have a finger in the pie, getting westerners to fight about stuff takes the attention away from what they are doing.

I remember the days when ...
Grass was something mowed every week
Ice was put in a drink
Gay mean't happiness
Rainbows were an innocent thing of delight and if you were Irish there was a pot of gold at the end
Shit was a derogatory word, these days it means excellent

It is sad that these days that people take offence at anything and everything without understanding the intent / context behind it, I regularly put my foot, no correction, both feet in it quite often without any malcontent / offence behind it. You are no longer able to express your views unless it fits in with the media and minority groups

I've probably upset someone with this post :)

cheers

Watched that clip. I would think that the word gay that I take meaning of is a happy feeling has been around a lot longer than the so call new meaning. Though just did a google search of the word and it came up with more of the so called new meaning. How many other words are in the dictionary that have multiple meanings that someone, somewhere will find offence. Dark, darkish, darker could all be taken as being offensive to someone that has black skin even though the word is not being used in that context. Anyway, is the word golden going to be changed as it is being used as a level of quality for your gaytime. Someone might find it offensive that graded into a quality level. Get a petition going on that one. And the word being used for the ice cream is gaytime, not gay time. Google gaytime and you'll come up with the meaning of an icecream in Australia since 1958, not really a mention of anything to do with the gay community other than this current bulls**t petition. Hope that Streets stick with the name.

Sorry Golden Happytime doesn't do it for me. Sounds like its coming from China.
