G'day Maurice

Somewhere in a gorge, up a creek, near a big Snappy Gum tree walking on geology somewhere around 3.2 Billion Years in existence somewhere out West in the 'Land Of Iron' and a fair way off anything like road.

Warm sunny day, freezing cold night ~ but absolutely magnificent and 'purely the Pilbara'

Best wishes and Safe travels : Joe Fury

Fishing up at Ecumbene dam on the weekend got a few trout mix of Brown and Rainbow. Gave the Stihl MSA 200 electric chainsaw a work out lol cuts way above what its 14ich bar would suggest. One thing I did note was the Bunker Xl is way colder in the Snowys compared to sleeping in my 2 hoop swag so in future I think I may stick to the swag. On the way back we checked out 7 gates area of Ecumbene and promptly got bogged in the soft sand near the waters edge. Got out though no worries with the maxtracks first attemt.

Yeah I have tinny but didnt take that just beers and fishing with worms and yabbies two rods each from the bank. Ate the fish we caught and they were only smallish ones this time but good eating size.
We stayed at fisherman’s rest last week. 3 deg at 4pm and blowing 25kt westerly. As soon as the young bloke found out there was fish in there he wanted a piece of it. No luck but he can say he’s been trout fishing now. There is something strange about fishing when it is colder than the beer fridge.

Another trip up to Eucumbene this time 7 gates totally different to the Dam area. More like down the coast with the amount of sand there and big boulders. All from my observations S-Type Granite which was sedimentary rock that contained volcanic rock chunks from eruptions that was buried and melted at depth but the volcanic inclusions didnt melt. The rock then cooled slowly forming granite with these inclusions. Its breaking down as well with the frost and water when its covered when the lake is fuller and breaks down into the sand thats present. There is also some basalt layers in the slopes as you go further up from the current lake edge.
