I'm interested to know what unit you're in reference to as well. If you could post think please.
I've had experience with two types of double din units, mates have purchased off ebay. They were not capable of running OziExploer. We ended up installing a PC (itx motherboard) under the dash and used the AUX input on the unit to view it all. That works ok.
The GPS that you can get on some of the models works fine, if you have the maps on a SD card it can read off. I didn't spend enough time seeing if I could make my own maps work with it. Must try that.
I was very disappointed at the resolution the screens give. They are cheap units and it's very hard to get good viewing. The touch screen is... um... clumsy would be the word. In my opinion, they are fine for city UBD style map work, but I would recommend it for dirt works.

I have installed one of these units, and have managed to get Oziexplorer CE running, but it will not displaythe maps on full screen. Will show the map insert in full but not the enlarged version.
The program can find the GPS and is logging about 9 sats.
Has anyone a suggestion as to what I have done wrong. Using the Hema ECW maps, which run ok on Ozi on the laptop.
Have checked out the Ozi site but all their suggestions have not yet improved anything.

The only way you can display the full map on OziExplorerCE is to zoom in. However, doing that you lose all the detail of the map. Most Hema maps are 1:250,000 scale and it is impractical to display the whole map on the full screen. I have 1:25,000 and find them excellent at 75% zoom.
There is an option to hide the title bars in OziExplorerCE so that all of the map on the screen is displayed.

Do you mean the screen only displays a portion of the available screen? If that is the case, you will have to alter the page file to the size of your screen. Download the settings manager from the OziExplorer website and create a new page file.

hey Wazza4wd.
How does your system fit into a GU patrol. And do you have any Photos of it installed. I had a look on your site and am interested if I could find some more information.

Here are some pics and an ebay link to the unit i am using, have had this in my Pathfinder for over a year now and had no problems. I was very sceptical but bit the bullet and purchased it as at the time know brands were well over $1000.
I also have it hooked upto screens in the back for the kids to watch dvd's on the long trips.
Changing the navigation software over to ozi explorer wasn't hard, i can email you directions and software used.
I have also hacked an Ipod that runs a 320 gig hard disc, this plugs into the i pod connection of the headunit and stores all my music and dvds so i dont have to change discs.

Ozi CE doesn't handle ECW files very well download the Img2ozf utility from the oziexplorer site. This converts the ECW files to OZFX3 format & works much better with OziCE
