Guys please take notice of this, we recieved this letter from a solicitor in regards to the Ormeau Hills track, which has subsequently been removed from the database.

Basically all it is saying guys is that if you use it, you will be prosecuted so I suggest you do not use it

I am a solicitor acting on behalf of Marcoola Investments Pty Ltd who are the owners of Lot 2 RP 15912 situated on Cliff Barrons Rd.
Council has advised us that your website has a track listed for recreational off road driving. This property is private property and no unauthorised access is permitted as it is in contravention of the Integrated Planning Act 1997. we request that you immediately withdraw this track from your website and put you on notice that any access is unathorised and offenders will be prosecuted.

Regards

Justin

Bungie, there are talking Ormeau Hills in Vic. The one in Brisbane is only short, I have put some of the plot up on this site. Planning to add more later in the year when time permits. The area is seen on Google Earth

They are talking QLD, unless both have a Cliff Barrons Rd ??

You have a copy of the Google earth file I can have to see if it does cover their area ?

Sorry, my bad. Shaws Pocket Road is part of this area also and it is a marked through road in the UBD and GPS. It has to be one tuff road for cars to get through. The mining area is clearly marked and fenced, the Wagner area I haven't seen any signs but it only effects a few tracks on the north side of the Cliff Baron Rd. The areas I have been in is south of Cliff Baron Road down to Norbury Rd.

Ormeau property of interest

I tried to upload a KML file of the property listed but it is an invalid file for upload so I have attached an image of the area showing the property boundary.

It seems there is only one track through this property (NW corner) and it is a dead end track.

Hope this helps
Darren

I have enquired with Gold Coast City council on this matter and they have stated there are no legal 4x4 tracks in the Gold Coast City Council zones including Ormeau Hills and they will take all steps to stop/hinder access to the area. Its classed as a council reserve and as such they state its tresspassing.

I have asked for additional detail and a land use plan so we know exactly where is the no go areas are. I was thinking more the area from Barronjoey Rd to Norbury Rd. anything west I think is Beenleigh? I have not done any runs down near Shaws pocket rd?

does that include Shaws Pocket Road? I think the Beenleigh council looks after the area

It is actually Gold Coast City Council, however, if you look at a Gregories or UBD street directory, 90% of the tracks are marked roads or fire trails, so in fact nobody owns them and therfore can not tell you not to use them, nor can they put up a gate to stop access, so in short they have no legal right to tell you so. there are still 4wd clubs that use these tracks, and just the other week a local club used it as a night comp site twise. I only live 500m from the main access road and see lots of 4wds go in there.

Sorry mate i'm not sure anyone can - this thread is really about how the tracks are council land and so on.

Although from the info listed in this thread you may just find what you are looking for:rolleyes:

The leagilities still seem to be clouded with no real answer forthcoming to date. Lots of statements made, we know not to drive on private property etc but looks like you can still drive on the roads that are listed in the UBD/Navman etc.

Unfortunately, when dealing with the Gold Coast City Council, NOTHING is ever going to happen. No body will make a decision on anything. The beaurocracy runs rife in that place and a genuine decision will NEVER be made.

Ummmmmmmmmm, don't get caught????

I have been in contact with GCCC and the local counciler about 4 weeks ago and my request for further info and clarifications, the applicbale land use management plan, be it in draft or issued so we can make some comment on it, details of the specific boundries of that of council vs private is slowly being actioned.

Pushed the fact we can work together at that site for a sustainable 4wd location, help council with rubbish removal etc, maintain signage and track conditions which in turn helps rangers and fire brigade in certain situations. And also try to work with the landowners adjacent to where we like to 4x4 and really see what their concerns are, might just be a minority of landowners who have an issue but voice it the most.
