Oil Pick Up Screen Breaking Apart

I've seen some youtube clips where the plastic oil pick up has broken apart causing grief. the plastic seems to degrade with time becoming very brittle.
I have found out the 70 series with a 1VD engine has a similar plastic oil pick up, part number 15104-51020 (51030 for 200 series)

has anyone had experience with this? or do you routinely replace them?

Toyota Landcruiser 1VD V8 diesel oil pickup problems

Hi All, Has anyone heard anything about this. I have spoken to my local mechanic & a Toyota dealer & they have never heard of it.

If kms getting up there swap out for a new one.
Doesnt seem to be to much of a pita . Better than a catastrophic engine failure..
Like most parts these days made to break after so many kms
